I have a idea for my center console. I never use it. I was thinking of putting a gasket on the lid, and turning it into a ice less cooler. The power is already inside. I'm going to order this-

    Peltier Thermo-Electric Cooler Module+Heatsink Assembly - 12V 5A ID: 1335 - $34.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits

If you put cold items inside, this will maintain its temperature. What do y'all think? The console is already insulated, so this is a easy, usable mod.

I wonder about condensation dropping down to the power outlet.

I have a Marine cover for it,and waterproof 12v plug. Not that it will have any actual ice or water in it.. A small pad cut to match the bottom of the compartment will be used to Absorb any condensation and is remove able to clean

Well, you've clearly thought it out! Just make sure the Peltier module heat sink gets good airflow for proper cooling.

Be sure to have it on a switched circuit. 5 amps will drain the 12v battery very fast.

There are several drawbacks to your idea!
A - How many of these units are you planning to run? I would think 4 at minimum.
B - Have you ever used a Peltier Device before and understand it's operation?
C - Do you understand how much heat these units generate to get the cold side cold?
D - You are going to have to put a fan in to cool the heat sinks. They will get quite warm to downright hot!
E - For $70 bucks you could go to Amazon and purchase a properly designed unit for car use and it will do a much better job!
