Does this work with the Prius C?

Any idea of the customisations available?

Yup, works with all 3rd-gen Prius models.

Just a heads-up everyone: our introductory pricing of $9.99 for the Pro Package inside Carista is about to expire. The price is scheduled to go up to $19.99 next week when we release version 2.1 of the app. If you buy the Pro Package within the next few days, you'll still get the lower price and you'll get future updates at no additional cost. Just letting you guys know, so you can decide whether to get it now.

I am about as untech-savvy as any person could be, so please forgive my ignorance. I have read through the entire thread to try to understand as much as possible before asking what may seem like inane or obvious questions. Please bear with me and talk to me as if we are talking about the Fisher Price My First Car Gizmo.

I get that it doesn't work with iThings, and I have an iPhone, so I know that's out. We do have some sort of Samsung Galaxy tablet that I have zero experience with, and my husband uses it to look at youtube videos for motorcycle repairs and reviews (interpretation: he's even less tech savvy than I am). It appears to have bluetooth. So how would this work? Or would it? Would I download the app onto that tablet and be able to sync it up with my Prius, or is whatever other device that was mentioned earlier required? I have no idea what that even is (OBDwhatnow?). I am very interested in this, but I remain completely clueless about the practical application and how to actually work it. Am I a lost cause?

I'm right there with you in the tech savvy department, and I can work the Carista app. I have the OBDII bluetooth that plugs into the car and was really easy to pair to my Samsung Galaxy III via bluetooth. The Carista app is easy, even for me, to navigate, well worth the $$$.

So then I would need to buy another device? It's car to device to other device, then? I'll need to find out what an OBDII even is. Does not compute.

Well, I just tried to google it and fell down a hole of language and terms that are totally unfamiliar to me. I have no business trying to tech up anything, I guess. I was hoping it was just an app I could download on the tablet and then sync it up to my car. I really have no idea how that stuff works.

Yup, you should be fine with your Samsung tablet. You do need another device, but I'll make it easy for you: buy one of the devices listed here: Hardware | Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization

When you get the device, download the app called "Carista OBD2" from Google Play Store (which is Android's equivalent of the App Store). The app is free to download. When you open the app, click "CUSTOMIZE" to get into your car's settings. It should connect automatically without you having to do anything. If you get asked for a PIN, enter 1234. The first time you try to change a vehicle setting, you'll get a popup to buy the "Pro Package" as an in-app purchase. Assuming you've set up a credit card with Google, you should be able to buy it right then an there. Note that your tablet will need to have internet access for that to work. That's about it :) Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you need any assistance.

Oh, and I forgot to say: the Bluetooth device (that you'll buy from the link above) needs to be plugged into the car's diagnostic port, which is a trapezoid-shaped plug under the dash, on the left side, near the pedals. You might have to stick your head under there to see where it is.

When exactly does the price go up? It will take a couple or so days for the Thing to get here. Thanks so much for breaking it down for me so I can (mostly) understand it, and double thanks for actually hand-picking devices. I had no clue even after trying to google it. It is shameful how untech-savvy I am.

I don't have an exact date, but it will be toward the end of this coming week. Definitely no earlier than Thursday.

Sweet! Device has been ordered. Amazon tells me it will be here by Wednesday. Thanks so much. If I can get my head around this and make it work, that's a pretty powerful marketing tool right there by itself. "Dummy proof."

Let me tell you the customer service with Todor is amazing! He is very prompt with his replies and has walked me through a couple of hiccups I had, trying to get all my doors to unlock. (y)

    :)
Sorry, I think Thursday is going to be the day if testing goes well (but nothing is for sure). But what I can offer you is a 14-day free trial... during which you can set all your settings the way you want them and then... you don't have to buy the app if you don't need it afterwards. I won't be offended :)

About which Bluetooth device to buy: see Hardware | Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization (any of the ones listed there should be fine)

Centered by the steering , you are really close in your pictures.
You will need to step out of the car and get on you knee to see it.

Thanks I found it, it's right next to the bonnet unlock. I can now say goodbye to the constant reverse beep and just have the one reverse beep, Yay!! [IMG]
