Hello PriusChat Members. Just created my account today and did a lot of Googling and found this Prius forum to have the most active forums and relevant information I've been looking for.

I just purchased a used 2006 Prius with 52900 miles, dark tan leather, SKS system, backup camera, 6 Disc CD player, JBL 9 speakers, stability control, fog lights, HID bulb (not the real HID lighting system), one SKS keyfob (seller claims he lost the other FOB), 15" wheels, with stock Prius mats. All of this for $11,500. I've done lots of research and looking around. I tell myself I got a good deal. What do you guys think? I filled it up twice and both times it was under $30 (which is awesome) and drove about 350-400 miles.

I've read that some Prius come with package I, II, III, IV, V, etc....what package do I have? Does it say somewhere?

The car is in good condition. It is a 8 year old so has its typical chips and scratches; but the paint itself is near mint condition.

I just tinted the car myself. Very simple. Probably took me no more than 2 hrs to tint the rear doors and back windows.

I took my car into the Toyota dealership for an Oil Change that was due and they told me that the drive belt is cracked. $130 for parts and labor. Cheap but I didn't get it done because I've owned many cars and never had a drive belt replaced until car reached 100k miles. I just feel they wanted more $$ from me. Anyways, I refused and the service advisor just walked away. I feel if it was that bad they would keep asking me or show me the crack. But I feel they just had to meet their quota.

I'm very impressed with the car's MPG. I'm averaging about 51mpg with city/hwy driving. Also the car is very quiet, nimble, and its quite powerful for a hybrid. I come from a Honda Accord and Honda S2000. ONly thing I have to get use to is the blind spots with the rear A pillar.

I hope to meet a few local members in this forum. I've joined 2 car club forums in the past. Do we do any caravan meets or drives?

    Thanks.

well in CA you get the CARB 10-yr 150-mile warranty so that adds to the value. Most major hybrid things goes wrong and you are covered until the 10-yr point I think. All that assumes it was always registered in a CARB state per Toyota rules. Welcome!

Congratulations on your purchase. You should really replace the belt because the car is 8 years old, old by years, not by mileage. It's a simple DIY if you want to try, about 10 minutes or less.

Here is a chart with all the package information, you can check to see what you've got.

look for threads regarding water pump replacement, they should all have the belt since that has to come off first.

Thanks for the video. I'll order the belt soon and try to do the install my self. I'm not much of a handy man nor a mechanic.
