I did a long highway trip yesterday and I can't honestly tell you if there is "less power" at top end or not. It's not like the car was ever a big accelerator from 65-80 beforehand ;) . Too much placebo effect from reading these threads for me to make an honest assessment. I certainly never felt it was grossly or unsafely low on power, even in 75mph Southern NH -> Mass. traffic.

That's Warner NH (where I gassed up) to Salem MA, 99+% highway, my average speed was at 69MPH when I got off the highway and onto surface streets to find a bathroom.

That constitutes very good MPG for me, particularly for the winter, on snow tires.

I was snowblowing a fresh 6" yesterday morning in middle Vermont, by the time I hit Manchester NH it was in the 40's and pretty dry. In Salem it was in the 50's with no snow in sight. A nice reprieve as I still have 4 foot high snowbanks on either side of my driveway here at home. What a difference 2.5 hours south can make!

Before this thread, I never noticed that line going away when in Park. For all I know, it always has. That is the screen I use 100% of the time.

Overall, our per-tank MPG is up a little but that's normal as the weather has been warming.

One odd issue I have had that is similar to the key not detected issue that some have reported is twice now since the update, I have gotten a "key battery low" warning after turning the car off. The batteries in my fob are brand new as of a month ago so I am not sure if this is due to the update or some other anomaly.

I'm a little underwhelmed right now: just got the update, and it took only about 30 min. Including a car wash.

Started it and see "CHECK HYBRID SYSTEM". Shut down and repeat 2 more times. Same message.

    They're looking at it.

Addendum: the service advisor came back, said somewhere in the process of them driving it over to a service bay and/or doing a few more start-ups, message went away. I started it up with him present, and yes: no more message. Guess that confirms at least that they did do something, lol.

Anyway, feels somehow different, but good, power about the same, maybe a little less recharge braking, not sure. Seems to slip into EV easily. Guess it's good.

Q: Does anybody (genuine Toyota Techs) know what the "cut-in" VIN or date is for this RECALL? I want to know *IF* our brand-new 2014 Prius either: (a) RECALL action was incorporated at factory (ie: already performed); (b) RECALL HAS already been done by stealership; or, (c) RECALL NEEDS to be done.

For the U.S. , all 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013 model year Prius Liftback are involved. Certain 2014 model year Prius Liftback are involved depending on VIN break points. Looking at the last seven digits of the VIN, those involved are from 0356538 to 0361595, and from 1732984 to 1795148.

Once the recall was announced to the dealers, any 2014's in inventory should have been placed on stop sale and would not be delivered until the remedy was applied.
If your Prius was delivered to you before the recall was released, it may still need to be performed.

You can also check your car's status at Toyota's Web page:

Thanks. Our '14 Prius is within that "...1732984 to 1795148..." range, however, that Toyota Web page said it couldn't find anything outstanding. So, it's still 50%-50% chance of either (a) files not yet updated or (b) recall already preformed.

The press release and dealer notification for stop sale went out on or about Feb 12, 2014.
When did you take delivery of your 2014 Prius?
If it was later than the middle of February, and if there was no outstanding recall listed for your VIN, the remedy was performed prior to delivery.

    I really don't see much difference after the recall. At first I thought the motor was running a little rough - but it was the gasoline. Cleared up with a fresh tank from a Shell station. I drove to Hunting Island yesterday...plus some around Beaufort and Columbia...and after breakfast out I have;

That is why my car will stay bone stock :)

Do come back and post if the dealer figured out how and what they did to get the factory specified mpg's back.

So true :) Couple more weeks until I can take it out of storage. I bought license tabs a couple weeks ago so I am good to go once I get back home.
