Regarding Toyota NJ dealerships: New Jersey Toyota Dealerships | Find Toyota Dealers In New Jersey

Metro Toyota in Cleveland, Ohio had been a good source of discounted Toyota parts. However I see that their price for the traction battery is now $2.2K, not much of a discount offered there.
    2005 Toyota Prius Parts - metrotoyotapartsnow.com

You might try that source if AutoNation Toyota in Houston does not want to ship the battery to NJ, or if the price listed on their website is incorrect.

My guess is that the traction battery will have to be put into a wooden crate to prepare it for international shipping. You really don't want the sheet metal case to be damaged in transit.

Also, please recognize that the new traction battery will consist of a sheet metal case, 28 new battery modules and the busbars connecting the modules. You will have to move the traction battery ECU and the system main relays from the old traction battery to the new battery's case.

So this would be a good time to open up the old battery and inspect those parts to make sure they are in good physical condition, no corrosion damage, etc. You don't want to wait a month or more for the new battery to arrive, only to find that additional parts are still required which will require another couple of months of shipping time.

OK, if the OP is serious about buying the part (and this is not some kind of scam), here is a source of discounted OEM toyota parts that ships worldwide: PartSouq.com Auto Parts All Over the World

There are based in United Arab Emirates.

I don't think you need to worry about a scam until the OP asks you to commit your funds to purchase a part on his behalf.

Well... no good news. Here is the response from the Prius battery shop in Houston that I deal with:

I am not sure if he has tried Doorman, GreenTec, or priusrebuilders.com yet, but they are larger companies who might have more resources than I do.

That was Jessica and she understands your frustration but is just too booked up and not yet big enough.

So, I will keep my eyes open and hope that you can find a solution.

    Best of luck,

    Mike

    Updates:
I haven't yet been able to get a feed back from the Auto nation guys (had inquired about a shop pick up but got no response. Well, not too bad. Check this out: My mail forwarding agency do offer a pick up but on impulse I sent them a mail to confirm this but they said they'll only pick up outside NJ if the weight is above 200lbs. So, that rules out picking it up from Auto Nation in Houston. Incidentally, checking dealers in NJ area, I realised their costs are on the higher ends , much higher than Autonation, etc.

So here's what I've narrowed down to:
    * I've sent in another mail to the Auto nation guys asking to confirm they'll ship the battery to NJ. Their total cost, including shipping to NJ, is 3.466k (with refundable core cost of 1.35k) hence net cost boils down to 2116 or so.
    * Having had these consistent disappointments, I've turned to look at the remanf options, specifically looking at the offers from the guys at Greentec Auto: sToyota Prius Gen 2 Hybrid Battery | Hybrid Battery Replacement

Looking at their highest grade, its got the folowing claims:

    "...WITH NEW CELLS
    • 48 Month, Unlimited Mileage Warranty (I noticed that on the order page the warranty is offered for 36 months.)
    • FREE Shipping* (and yes, they would ship it to anywhere within the US)
    • Ready-to-install direct replacements – no programming required!
    • Re-engineered with upgraded materials (where possible)
    • Completely remanufactured and tested..."
And a net cost of 2295 (after the refundable 500 bucks for the core).

    My question now is:

The remanf hybrid batteries from Green Tec, would they be really as good as the new (OEM) ones? -seeing that they're offering new cells.

The car has been down for a little above 2 months now and we're aren't happy to have it down this long. Nevertheless, I wish to try not to make a misguided/irrational decision on this, especially in view of the costs involved.

So, what would you suggest I do....?
Should I go for it? Or Should I keep searching for the OEM/new ones?
    Thank you.

I am sure others with more Prius expertise and automotive knowledge would have to say NO; an OEM HV battery will generally outlast any rebuilt.

How can Greentec say NEW, but its "Re-engineered w/ upgraded materials (where possible)." And "Completely remanufactured and tested ..."
I translate this as 100% rebuilt.

You never mentioned and no one asked, but can you have family or friend, who lives in the US, buy the HV battery, shipped to the NJ shipper, ultimately getting shipped to you in Nigeria?

All these are in place. Got someone there ready to buy once I give the go ahead to do so. Problem had been getting where to buy.... As you may had noticed in previous posts, the sellers we found were reluctant to ship to an individual, some saying they only sell to dearlerships, some were saying they are not authorized to ship it since its classified as a harzardous material- mind you, all these were to ship to NJ where my freight forwarder operates from. So, I'm searching for a place that would sell and be willing to ship to NJ as well, so long as their final cost does not exceed 3.4k or thereabout...

By the way, thank you for your thumbs up for a new OEM. I'm still open for further guidance and suggestions.

Should have qualified OEM battery. If you want to keep the current Prius till it falls apart, go OEM. If you are looking to get another year or two, go rebuilt. Assuming the price difference between rebuilt vs new is large enough.

Olatehtoyota, in Kansas City, has a new battery for $1941.50 + $1350 Core + Free Shipping. LINK
Click Hybrid Components. Its the first line item: Battery Prius, $1350 Core, $1941.50 Online Price.
You'll get the core charge back when your old battery is returned; I think your family/friend can return to any Toyota dealership in the US, since you bought from the US. Most of the dealers who do on-line sales also offer will-call pick-up too; a work around if your family/friend is willing to pick-up.

    Good luck.

I checked Metro, their ready to ship cost is 3.846k -2.2 +1.35 (core charges) + shipping-(which is a bit high...). I've asked my contact to call Auto nation and confirm their readiness to ship as I'm still yet to have their reply.

Thanks for that, I'll be chanced to check it up by the weekend and ensure all's okay.

I placed an order with Olathetoyota about 14 days ago and here's an excerpt from the reply they sent to me:
"Due to safety and hazmat restrictions on the Hybrid battery we will be unable to sell and ship it to you. The battery has been removed from your order and the rest of your order has been placed on hold. Please let me know if you would like to continue with the rest of your order. Thank you, Olathe Toyota Parts Dept. 1-866-596-1970 https://parts.olathetoyota.com"
By the way, they were to ship it to NJ.
At this point, we requested to have our courier service pick it up but the responded in the negative as well.

I felt really bad 'cause they had a good price--total was about 3.2k unlike others that are much more expensive. Anyway, its one of those things.... Thanks again .

Try Camelback in Phoenix, AZ. LINK. $2174.48 + $1350 CORE + Free Shipping? Maybe they can match Olathe's price?
AutoNation Toyota Gulf Freeway Parts in Houston, TX. LINK. $1941 + $1350 CORE + Free Shipping?

    Both locations offer will-call pick-up.

I'm telling you, If I were you, I'd rebuild the battery myself. There are numerous threads on Gen I and Gen II forums that virtually walk you thru it plus you tube videos.

Had checked camel back. The free shipping is restricted to goods less than 25 lbs. So for the battery, total cost is about 3.741k- higher than my estimate. Auto nation is where am currently awaiting feedback on their willingness to ship. On pick up, I think I've lost the option since my freight forwarder says they can only go pick outside NJ if its up to 200lbs.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, right now, I don't think I would want to go that route...at least not now. Time constraints, etc. Otherwise, it would had been fun to do that.

You can walk into any discount auto supply store and they can get you a Dorman battery. No need to ship here, ship there. Just pickup at the auto supply store after it gets in.

Do they have "discount auto supply" stores in Nigeria ??
    Somehow I doubt it.

Unfortunately, you may end up taking more time trying to get one shipped.
