    Hi all,

Long story short, apparently while I car was at the stealership for it's 45k service, the Karr alarm was going off crazy and wouldn't stop, so their techs disconnected the horns.
First time they delivered my car back, the horns wouldn't work- sent it back
Second time around, porter turns off car, closes the driver door, and car alarm starts blaring, other techs and customers staring and closing their ears..

Service manager, comes up to me, no name tag and not initially introducing herself, yells "I can't fix your car!!!"
So I tell her, yes you can, this is Toyota, not Jiffy Lube, so fix it. I didn't leave the car with you all like that, I am certainly not taking it home like that!!!

Not sure what could be going on, they kept my car hostage for yet another day, with no rental.

My electrical mods: Karr alarm (installed at the dealership as part of the deal/purchase) HID headlights and fog lights, Hella horns

    Help! Thanks in advance!!!!

Surely they have the resources to figure out a Karr Alarm.....a dealer installed accessory. Have them call the installing dealer. You can go higher up with your complaints if you have to. Service Manager? General Manager?

    Thanks for the reply!

Service manager was able to get a hold of Karr 800 number and was troubleshooting

    Have yet to hear back.

They're just so fast to blame aftermarket parts, ie my Hella horns but it's not the horns, it's what's triggering them to go off..

    Sigh

    Hmmmm.

    This is a wobbler.
You can demand that they restore your car to its previous condition since the aftermarket alarm was dealer installed (**)
    However (comma!)
I'm pretty sure that the dealer didn't install the Hella's.....so if I were them and a customer gave me attitude, I would absolutely service the car.....

......when I got around to it. ;)

(**) Is there paperwork on the aftermarket alarm, or did the dealership install it under the table.

    OK.
Presuming that the aftermarket electronics are/were installed correctly and are not contributing to the problem that you're trying to get corrected you can contact whatever Toyota uses for a customer service branch and lob a complaint.

    Good Luck!

I had a similar issue with my KARR alarm too. I think I just pulled the main positive 12 volt link (under hood there's a large white wire in electrical box. Disconnect and reconnect after 5 minutes). You do lose all of your presets but it should reset your alarm. Here are some more tips on the KARR system:

Make sure Karr is disarmed (no LED lights)
    Turn Prius on
Press and release Karr blue button 3 times
Short LED light with 1 short horn
Before 3 seconds, turn Prius off
Horn will give a short-long chirp
Within 3 seconds, turn Prius back on (now in programming mode)
Horn will give a long-short chirp
Press Karr blue button one time per option (there are 4 options) the Karr LED will flash the number of times per option you are on.
Option 1 (one flash): wait ½ second and horn should chirp once (auto-lock with ignition on)
Option 2 (two flashes): wait ½ second and horn should chirp once (auto unlock with ignition off)
Option 3 (three flashes): wait ½ second and horn should chirp twice (passive arming and lock without lock)
Option 4 (four flashes): wait ½ second and horn should chirp twice (active arming)
Turn Prius off to exit programming.
Get out and arm…LED should flash.
Wait a bit and then attempt to disarm with fob.
Valet mode – car on, press and hold blue button for 5 seconds until solid blue LED
Valet mode off – within 3 seconds of Prius on, press and hold blue button until LED off

Thank you ALL for your assistance on this. Got Toyota to fix my car, free of charge despite not being covered by any warranty etc etc.
    Much appreciated!!!
