Does Prius C have regenerative braking?

    Im in the market for one. But I was told that this doesn't regen from braking as does the regular Prius does. Is this true? Thanks in advance.

    False. It does have regenerative braking and will recharge the battery as you depress the brake pedal.

    The c is a 'real' hybrid. It is stubby, so it is less aerodynamic but easier to park. If you mostly do city driving and have no kids, it is a great choice. If you usually drive at freeways speeds or have two or fewer children you may prefer the Liftback. 3 kids, or a life filled with cargo would lead you to a v. Short commutes or the chance to charge at both ends of your commute can make the PHV a good choice.

    Here's the note from the Prius c manual:

    Regenerative braking
    In the following situations, kinetic energy is converted to electric energy and deceleration force can be obtained in conjunction with the recharging of the
    hybrid battery (traction battery).
    ●The accelerator pedal is released.
    ●The brake pedal is depressed with the shift lever in D or B.​

    Another question. Does the Prius C4 come with back up camera? If not, can it me added to the oem display like the regular Prius. Thanks again

    The C does not have a backup camera in any trim level, not even as an option. A number of members here have added one; a search will find several threads.

    Yes, as ftl quotes the manual above.

    Regenerative braking is simply the electric motor rotating the opposite way. When electricity is fed into an electric motor, it's a "motor" and generates kinetic energy. When kinetic energy is fed back (like when you're coasting), the motor becomes a generator and generates electricity which is put back into the battery. That's how it works in its simplest terms.

    Yes. There is a display on the dash that shows it working.

    Wherever you heard otherwise........you should not trust that source for any other information.

    Will that also be true of the '15 models ?
    I think the spec's are out now but not the actual cars.

    AND that seems rather odd anyway as the 3 and 4 both have displays that should work with the camera just fine.

    I haven't seen anything on the 2015 models yet.

    Most of those who have added the camera to the Prius c Three and Four have used the existing display without any changes. All that's needed is the correct wiring harness for the existing connections on the display, along with the wiring to the camera itself.

    It's now a Federal Law for cars to have them, so my guess is that it will come with them.

    You're absolutely right. I forgot that they were giving time. I still never understood why the C didn't get one. It's set up for it... the Australian car gets one... But oh well, they're easy enough to install.

    well sorta kinda as the base model does not have Nav , so it's the in car entertainment (radio CD) touchscreen used for the reverse cam
