Maintance Tips - fluids, etc.

"Tip": Use only the fluids specified in the Owner's Manual, e.g. Toyota WS transmission fluid, Toyota Long-Life Coolant (pink), etc.
For whatever it's worth, I have 53,000 miles on my 2010 hatchback and all fluids are still above the "MIN" marks. The only fluid I've needed to top off is the window washer fluid, which is "whatever floats your boat".
Barring a leak somewhere, I'd be surprised if any of your fluids need to be "filled up".

 

If it were my car, I'd replace the transaxle fluid. Toyota says it's a "lifetime fluid", but some people on PC have sent their fluid in for analysis which have found 15% reduced viscosity and other assorted issues. Although opinions vary, many advocate changing the transaxle fluid at 30k and every 60k thereafter.

If you decide to change the fluid, you will need 4 quarts of Genuine Toyota ATF WS (world standard) fluid - Toyota Part #00289-ATFWS

It is also recommend to replace the crush washers on the drain and fill plugs - Toyota Part #90430-18008 (quantity=2)

 

You shouldn't have to add brake fluid. It's natural for the level to drop, as the pads wear down. When new pads are installed the level should go up to top. Unless there's been leakage, which is uncommon.

I'd second Transaxle fluid change.
