OK, kind of interesting story I guess... Bought a new Prius in 2011, was and still am member here, and frequented this lovely site a lot early on. Then just settled into driving the thing.

Now, eldest daughter going to college 600 miles away. Daddy trying to decide about a safe and reliable vehicle for daughter dear... So I decide to send her to college with the 2011 and buy a 2014 to replace. I will note, I paid several thousand LESS for the 2014..... Less demand these days!

So I am trying to make sure the 2011 is serviced as best possible before she heads out. Researching Prius batteries and I decide the 2011 12v battery might be getting weak sometime in the not so distant future, so I decide to swap the 2011 and 2014 batteries (dad is not worried about a dad emergency quite the way he is worried about a daughter emergency).

That was easy -- everyone of these threads say you need a backup source of 12v power or your "settings will be lost" --- what a load of hooey. I am pretty fast I suppose, back the two cars up end to end and 20 min later, battery in and battery out 2x and seems to me my settings are fine. Actual dead time was a minute or two for each vehicle. I did lose the trip settings and mpg settings in both. But the radio sets were fine.....

    But TO THE POINT....

I became curious about the actual real age of the batteries....

I have these numbers from them, and I have no idea what any of that means..

    2011 OEM battery:
    200711w
    LB158
    7GBH06 0908

    2014 OEM battery:
    161113w
    LB296
    7KBK13 1080

Now, I am usually decent, but not great with puzzles. But I cannot figure out what the actual date of manufacture of either of those batteries is. What got me wondering is the 2007 number from the 2011 battery. But I doubt it was really made in 2007... Or? But the 2014 battery did not follow any similar convention.

Anyone know how to determine the actual manufacture date of stock Prius batteries????

I don't think that a common Service Dealer will decipher a date code for this assemblies, it is not relevant at their level of service.
Toyota headquarters or the Regional Field Service Engineer will have access to this information.
