time to replace th 17" oem tires HELP!

For Canadians: I just noticed now TireRack has a Canadian installer, in West Vancouver, BC:

Urban Garage Tire & Service.
West Vancouver, B.C.


I emailed them and they verified this, and noted they might be THE TireRack installer in Canada, so far. The only issue:

Going through the motions of a purchase through TireRack, with the shipping and brokerage, and then factoring in Urban Garage's $30 per tire install charge, plus $3.95 for valve, our local Costco is about the same, or a bit cheaper. And less hassle.

But still, good to know TireRack is breaking the ice in Canada.

 

haha thanks, yes we do need more rain, have been getting some but not enough.

yea given our current driving conditions and stuff i do plan to still hold out for the 60k mark if possible. won't be that long of a wait though given how much i drive.

The MXM4 Primacy that I will be getting have a 55k warranty on them so I'm confident those will be able to go 60k easily, if not more for the future.

 

Ordered the primacy after having 78K on my OEM 17" tires.
Got a great deal. 113 each plus a 70 instant coupon.
I can probably get another 10K out of the OEM's, but could not pass up the deal.

Going to get them installed next week.

Ok.. got my primacys put on today.
Wow.. what a difference. in road noise.. much quieter.
Have to give it a week or two to see if there is any improvement in mileage.
So far.. so good.

Please keep us posted on the mileage and mpg'm difference. I think mine are finally breaking in because my mpg started creeping up. I'm starting to think my wheels are aerodynamically challenged. lol

Any updates on how your Michelin Primacy's worked out?

I am in need of replacing my original Toyo 17" low profile tires at 35,000 miles (I think low high wear was due to lack of timely rotations)

I replaced all 4 of my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires with Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires around the first of November. One of my Pilot sport tires had a balancing problem that Costco couldn't find so they made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

I now have about 2500 miles on a set of Primacy MXM4 (V rated) tires. I am very pleased with them, good tracking, fairly low noise, good dry pavement traction, and they seem pretty sticky (compared to my OEM Toyo A20s) on frost and ice. Haven't tried them in the snow yet but from looking at the tread design I think they will be pretty good in snow as well. I can't be sure in this weather but I think the mileage may be a little better than the Toyo A20s.

 

I have the Toyo 17 inch original equipment on a 2012 Prius model 5 and have just over 70,000 miles on them and still not to the wear bars. Will probably be there in a few thousand however. I had a 2010 prius with 15 inch and had to replace at 35,000 so when I go to replace the Toyos I would like to get 70,000 plus miles again. I wonder is another (cheaper) model of Toyo would be best
