Will not using the foot parking brake damage the transmission when car rolls a bit?

That must be quite a contrast! I'm from England myself but have lived on Long Island a lot more years than in the UK.

I rarely use the parking pedal, although I should. Most times I come to a full stop with the regular brake before I touch the Park button. I guess I got out of the habit of using the parking brake since the days when it was too easy to drive off with it on, burning it out, because there was generally no warning that it was on. The Prius lets you drive with it on, but a beeper and light warn you.

PS: This is the first time I've seen someone refer to their car by the paint code.

I learned to drive in a city hugging the side of a mountain in a car with a manual transmission.
The handbrake was essential for parking AND driving.

Nowadays my automatic Prius runs around on relatively flat terrain but I have had no good reason to try and change an old but good habit.

Reminds me of the dug addict who said he couldn't get AIDS from sharing needles cause he has a condom in his pocket.

It seems like only yesterday the seat-belt controversy was still raging. A lot of people were maintaining that it was better to be thrown clear. Anyone watching dash-cam accidents will clearly see why that's a ridiculous argument. Before that, the argument was that anyone could brace themselves in an accident, better than any seat-belt. Silly how the mind works sometimes.

You should use the parking brake and try to apply it where you are at a stop, before putting the car in park. However, that little roll before it locked tranny catches it is harmless. Will not damage anything.
