PlP advance not opening doors automatically

    Hi All,

    I am at work and don't have my manuals with me. A friend of mile has a 2014 PIP advance and her door are not opening automatically. She has been pressing button of remote to unlock doors. She didn't even know the door can be open automatically when she insert hard into the handle.

    She also didn't know about the car pool green stickers, is it too late to apply? She just send in her form yesterday.

    Thanks guys! I read this, but it's only telling you how the smart key system works. Her car does nothing when you walk up and try to open either the driver or passenger's door... Only the pressing unlock on the key to unlock will work...

    Any idea?

    Maybe the smart key system is turned off? On the 2012 base, that function can be turned off by the dealer. Also, try unlocking the car with the remote, open and close the driver's door, and then press the small bars on the door handle. It should lock, if everything is working properly. The system can be set to unlock all doors or the driver's door only, which is probably best for a female driving by herself from a security standpoint. BTW, she may also have a cell phone interfering with the signal, although if she is holding it in one hand as she grips the handle with the other, that wouldn't seem likely. I get that sometimes when both the remote and my phone are in my pockets.
    As for the HOV stickers, it would appear at this time that she has a decent chance of getting them. Hard to figure why whoever sold her the car didn't use that as a selling point.

    Well... I tried but it didn't work.

    She took her car in for 5000 miles service last saturday and ask the dealer about the smart entry but toyota told her to make another appointment to come in for that, toyota said it will take over 2 hours to program that.

    I am just amaze that smart entry wasn't a default setup for her advance model!!!

    Lots of possible causes...

    But the one that caught me was leaving the spare key-fob in the car. It will not lock when a fob is left inside.

    I was also caught by the smartkey feature turning itself off for no apparent reason. I had to phone the dealer to learn how to turn it back on through the "car" menu on the head unit.

    After I had paid $12 for a new battery.

    Wow, somebody got to you on the price of that battery! Amazon sells them really cheap. I think I paid $1.27 for one with free shipping. :cool:
