it's 2005, I didn't check about power on/off thing. In fact, I don't need that, I just put ipod in holder and when I leave, I'm put ipod in to center box in case of stealing.

One tip I found, press up or down track button on stearing wheel to change playlist.

OK, I hate to be a pain, but I looked-over the Ipod2Car at Best Buy during lunch and decided that if it worked acceptably I'd get one.

Acceptably means it responds to all of the steering wheel controls, charges the iPod without wrecking it, turns it off when the car is stopped, and sounds OK.

I am worried that recent revisions might have screwed up what was a working product, so has anyone gotten one recently?

    Thanks...

I just bought a 2003 prius and I am very happy with it only thing is I am a gadget nut and I see that little screen and I want to watch movies on it play games or hop online! I came across this it seems to upgrade the screen to the newer version so it can be used in that way? http://www.coastaletech.com/viewtech.htm

My big question is has anyone out there done it?

How hard is it to do, I have never really installed anything eletrical into a car?

The prius dashboard is rather big and that screen seems to be pretty set into it how do I get it out without tearing up the dash?

:) Any tips will be very appreciated!! Also I live in the UK would this system work?

Just installed in a '05 Prius without JBL system:

Peripherals PXDX AUX2CAR Auxiliary Input Adapter
    Select Cable - PXHTY3

total price: about $120 from discountcarstereo.com

I wanted to replicate the aux audio input that is found in '06 models. I also did not want it to be ipod specific, so I could plug in a navigation unit, XM, etc.

Instead of having a loose cable coming out of the AUX2CAR, I decided I wanted a securely mounted plug, so I attached on of these things:
    Dual Iplug

right next to the cigarette lighter plug near the passenger's feet.

    and an editorial comment:
We really need somebody to clean up this thread! make it useful!

Believe it or not, I use a regular male to male headphone cable.

It does not let me control the iPid, nor does it let me charge the iPod during travel, but it does play the iPod through the stereo when I select the aux button on the stereo.

    Hope this helps!

It does. Darell responded as well and suggested a 1/8 double ended connector. Do you have a recommendation on a device if I wanted to use the car's screen and steering wheel controls?

    Thanks for your help

Moto V635 works fine with Bluetooth on my 2006. Transfer works (still one at a time). Quality is fine on my side, caller gets some echo like older style "speaker" phones.

So far, I have not seen something that I like enough to buy, but I have a 2006 and from what I understand, there is nothing that is 100% compatible with it yet.

I wish there were, but give it time, someone will get something figured out.

Depending on your model year, there is a device from Dice electronics that works. (It does not fully support the 2006 yet)

If it has not already been stated, the Nokia 9300 phone works fine with the bluetooth. You can not transfer your entire phone book the car, but individual entries can be transfered. It's tedious, but it works. The audio quality of the phone through the JBL speakers is impressive. I have also gotten voice dialling to work.

Did you do anything special to pair the Nokia 9300 to the car? I just bought a 9300 today, and it will not pair. The car gets to the screen that says to enter the pass code to the phone. The phone then thinks it is paired, but the car never moves past the pass code screen. It's like the strange thing that happens with a Treo 650, but making a call from the phone does not make the car complete the pairing.

Can you describe how you got the VX8100 to sync? I have a VX8100 from Verizon and cannot get the numbers to transfer. My car is an '06, option package 7.

LG VX8300 for Verizon. Works great, uploaded 10 contacts at a time (multiple numbers each), about 75 contacts (110 numbers) in 5 minutes. all functions seem to be working, sound is excellent. highly recommended.

yes, this is the case. like i said, only 10 contacts can be transferred at one time, but multiple phone numbers of each. with this phone (LG VX8300), you have to put check marks next to the contacts to be transferred, and it limits you to ten. i suppose if you have hundreds, it could take awhile. as mentioned, i had less than 100, and it took about 5 minutes. i can't speak to the other verizon phones, but this was relatively simple, and the phone and functions work great. also, battery life on this phone is excellent-still drains faster when in BT mode, but not that significant.

Just wanted to let you all know. We have Verizon. We order the LG VX8300 for my husband - it was time that we could upgrade...and it worked perfectly with our Prius. He is a happy camper... He said he only had one problem and it was with our home number vocie mail because we have pauses programmed in, he said all he had to do was add the last 2 digits manually. Eveyrthing else worked perfectly...
Thank you for the very VALUABLE INFO..

    Help.... please.

I'm new to this forum, am picking up my 2007 Prius tonight.
What's a good Verizon Bluetooth phone? Are there some that work better than others? I'm currently looking at the MotorolaV710.
