Looks like there might be a TIS for that code. Maybe Toyota will do a free fix??

When I got my 2005, the same thing happened, it had 151k miles. Drove from Tennessee to CA and got a P0AA6 code.

There must be something in the long drives that does the transaxle's in. This car was mostly dealer maintained but never had a transaxle fluid change. Replaced transaxle and now at 160k miles and running perfect.

    False.

My Prius has done many multi-thousand mile treks with no latency and no issues. Most likely story is something else was also going on. My transaxle fluid has been changed around 80K miles and that has been it.

Might be something to that as the car was bought in Meridian, Ms and driven to Ruston, La--approx. 250 miles. That was on Saturday afternoon, the problem started after G/D took the car to church Sunday and came back home-- at least it waited until she was home to die. I simply hate this as that child was hog-wild crazy about the little car.

Would be very interested to find out the final verdict on this car's symptoms.

As would I... I am not convinced that the transaxle if fixing to drop out. A P0AA6 points to other things, it looks like.

If we were given the VIN we could check later if the repair is done at a dealer.

When I read about the battery it comes to my mind there must be ground lead somewhere. One from the battery to the body and probably one from the body to the powertrain. Has this been checked? I would guess a problem in these connections could give some false readings of sensors in the car.
