roaring sound from front drivers side-help please

    New to forum. And probably a terrible prius owner. I have 200,000 miles on the car and have done nothing except change the oil, tired and battery. No other maintenance was performed.

    While driving straight the front wheel seems to vibrate some and make a whirring/roaring sounds. When turning to the left the nose is greatly reduced. When turning to the right it still exists.

    Any potential causes? Possibly the struts? They as well as all the front end components are original.

    Thanks for fast reply. Not sure why I didn't think of that. Can the bearings be replaced or does it require an entire hub assembly?

    Not sure about prius. Someone else should chime in. Haven't had my wheel off yet.
    Now a days it usually is a hub type assembly. Raise that side up and spin it.

    OVERDUE:
    • Spark plugs - 120K mile intervals.
    • Coolant - first drain fill at 100K miles (engine and inverter side), then every 50K miles (both sides).
    • Transaxle (think transmission) fluid drain/fill - 30K miles (ideally) or push to 60K miles.
    • Clean and adjust the brakes, esp rear drum.
    • All 4 struts need to be replaced yesterday! You'll notice the ride difference immediately.
    • Clean the HV Battery fan, when replacing rear struts (fan will be visible and accessible then). Your's will probably have junk accumulated on the blades.
    • Engine air filter and cabin air filter, if needed.
    • Throttle plate cleaning.

    I wish everything came apart as easy as in the video. It didn't show the drive shaft removal either.

    Couldn't the hub be changed with removing everything from the car? Also, I noticed the old one didn't have a sealed bearing and new one did. Are you supposed to grease the old one a part of maintenance?
