2007 Prius with Turbocharger, 28,500 miles, Huntington Beach, CA

    After watching Tony's provided video, it's believable this car has really low miles. It's range per fill up is only slightly over 100 miles. So in theory, with such low range, it could have very low mileage.

    Dear JC91006:
    It sounds like this is not the car for you. I have stated what I know about the car. You can look up Quantum Terchnologies out of Irvine on the web and you will see they are indeed a company that does engine conversions, mostly gas to CNG. The mileage is indeed low. I have explained why I think it is low. The person that would be interested in this car will be the type of person that likes to tinker with cars. Your post says you have project cars. What do you modify on these project cars that does not void the warranty?

    The warranty is not voided because it's modified. The car doesn't have a warranty due to it's age.

    This is not a Hydrogen-Electric Hybrid. It was converted back to a Gasoline-Electric Hybrid. The difference between this car and any other 2007 prius is it has the turbocharger. When they converted back to gasoline-electric they left the turbocharger on. It is one of the Hydrogen-Electric cars that did not sell. So at the end of the program, someone bought it and converted it back to gasoline-electric.

    At the price point that was mentioned on the youtube video, I wouldn't be surprised the hydrogen-electric didn't sell. Something like 6 figures?? Yikes.

    If this car has a longer range from being converted back to gasoline, I now still question the low mileage on the car.

    How much is the average MPG on this vehicle. any dyno tests?

    When did you get the car? I need to know how long the car sat before getting bought. Non-use of the battery would become a major concern.

    Weird. Never seen a blowoff valve vent into the exhaust before. Normally it vents into the airbox for recirculation. I wonder what kind of turbo that is. Looks like a Garrett T25 setup. I also wonder how the transaxle holds up to the additional power considering it is all electrically coupled and not mechanically coupled.

    Also, this isn't an electrical turbo, you can see by the exhaust manifold and the turbine housing that it is clearly a good ol' fashioned turbo.

    Additionally, who would buy this car? I would if I had the money. Plenty of people tinker with things themselves and would love to get their hands on something like this... if I wasn't already committed to so many other projects.

    Also... i wish it could have stayed hydrogen-electric. You can create your own electrolysis setup in your own home and create your own fuel if you wanted to, which would have been an AWESOME project. I always thought about doing a project where solar electricity would be used to power a hydrolysis system (these things are commonly used for water treatment mostly to create ozone, but you can harvest hydrogen instead) and you just create your own fuel.
