I followed your instructions and first time i just pressed the button since it was in upright postion. Try starting didnt work. 2nd time i removed the plug and reinserted following your instructions. And boom it started but the red triangle was still there. I reset with 12 v and that is gone as well.

Thank you for all the help from core of the heart.
    How do i thank you,

no need to thank me, it's part of our forum community to be helpful. Now that you have reset your car, if there are any codes remaining, they'll appear at a later time and you can troubleshoot those codes as they come up

Just click the "like" button on his posts. We try to help all Prius owners here when they have problems. The fact that you followed up to tell all of us what solved your problem is thanks enough (at least for me).

You may also want to get a Prius aware scanner, like the MiniVci that operates off of windows 32bit operating system. This could be purchased on Amazon for about $30. The scanner you currently have and didn't pick up any codes will not work for the Prius. There should have been a code that indicated the interlock switch was not in place, but you didn't get that code with your scanner.

I definitely value your opinion and want purchase what you are recomending. Just want to know that what i have is the same thing. It is based on mini vci and they say that is what toyota is using. These are sold on ebay and amazone. May be a different than what you have suggested. Mine is called Toyota Techsmart.

If this scanner you own is one that can read Prius codes, it should have read the code for the interlock switch. I thought I heard you write there were no codes when you try to read it?

"Like," the posters response that was valuable to you, which you already did.

If you are in the market for any Prius Accessories, first check out PriusChatShop, and buy from here if you can, even if its a few dollars more than Amazon. A purchase here helps keep Prius Chat running. Do check it out so you can see what stuff they have.

"Toyota Techsmart," revealed various auto parts on eBay and nothing on Amazon. Click this LINK, and choose any mini VCI cable; I'd get the cheapest one (new or used). You can always find a newer software version to Techstream somewhere on the Internet.
READ ME FIRST. The Tundra boys provide an easy ABC, 123, for mini VCI. You should have no further questions after reading this.
Hardware Requirements, by Toyota, just note the speed and RAM requirement for your soon to be Techstream laptop.
To be data safe, assume the hacked Techstream software has malware. This laptop should be a spare "junker," used only for Toyota diagnosis/maintenance; no email, no online banking, no nothing where a user ID and password is ever entered.
Some people have reported success using a Mac laptop in some Windows XP emulation mode.

    Hi jc91006,

I have a question about my van and i know this forum is for prius. My van is 2004 sienna. I need to reset the immobilizer to program master key. The reason is because when i bought i only got a key which is original but its a sub key not master. Now i want to prorgam another to use as spare but without the master it wont let me enter in program mode.
To rest the immobilizer it has to be done using toyota online gateway service for which i dont have an account. I have the seed number which needs to be entered using toyota gateway online to get the pass code to clear the previously registerd keys.
You think if i give you the seed number you can get the pass code?
    Please let me know.

There's this device I bought a few years ago to make a key for my 2004 Sienna. I may still have it, the instructions are in broken English but it worked in making a new key for my 2004 Sienna. Send me a message with your address, I'll mail it to you.

I got your information through PM, not sure why I couldn't reply to it there. I'll send it out this week, it's in my garage somewhere.

Hi aswat , same happened to my car (Prius 2nd gen 2010).I was driving towards home when the car died on me without any warning lights. There was a bad burning smell. Do u think I should change the pump or I have to do something with the fuse. Plz guide me as I don't have any knowledge about repairing or maintaining prius.
