Hello, new to this forum and to the Prius community. I just bought my prius a month ago and couldn't leave it stock when I got it home I took the hubcaps off first. Didn't even sit in my garage for 10 minutes before me ripping at the car. I bought black lug nuts to match the stock black wheels. I also bought LED's installed throughout the car. Bought "Prius" all weather floor mats. And installed a 6000k HID kit, have 8000k on the side may switch over to that though. I ordered a set of RSR Black-i coilovers, a shark fin and some blue LED's to match the 8000k headlights should be coming this week. Anyways i'm creating this thread so I can track history of my car and share mod's with all of you and help if you have any questions throughout my build process, and i'm sure i'll have plenty of questions as well. I'm a long way from where this car is going to end up but I will keep you all updated with all parts installed with before and after photos. Below is a photo of the car purchased off the lot, 2013 Prius Two.
    Hello

Today I decided to Pasti-dip my emblems I tried to remove them at first to debadge the rear end but found out the hard way there are holes underneath the Hybrid Synergy Drive, so needless to say it's still on there just blacked out now, I didn't have any newspaper so I ended up using the tape all around as shown below. I still ended up getting some spray on the car but it easily rubbed off, I recommend using newspaper and covering more then what i've covered. I found it easier to just remove the Toyota symbols since I wanted to take off the blue/black backround anyways. Anyways I like the final product. Didn't take to long it was a hot day so it dried very quickly and I did four coats. Kind of messed up the before and after photos but you guys can figure it out. Got to go get a safety inspection this week before I install the new RSR Coilovers so those stickers are coming off my paint and getting a bracket for the bumper instead. Not a mod but just driving to work today and this just reminds me why I bought a Prius. Bought over 3 weeks ago and still on my first fill up, well they have it to me filled up from the dealership too. So I suppose second. But my coilovers should be in today! Installing this weekend as well as a bunch of other parts coming in throughout the week! Will be sure to keep updated. image.jpg

Is plasti-Dip another name for spray paint? How do you spray the emblems on the car and not get the black on the car itself? Like inside and between the P. Just on the emblem.

Plasti-Dip is a brand name for a rubbery film. It comes as liquid (you dip things in, tool handles for example), or spray.

My 2 cents: Toyota's going ever down a slope with the 15" rims, first the plastic covers, then switching from silver to black. They should come up with a decent alloy rim to use, or steelie plus cover, which is essentially what they have now.

The 15" rims are there to keep costs down. They want to reserve the nice "alloys" for upgrades. I don't think Prius owners are bothered by them, over 99% of the ones I see are all stock, with the plastic hubs on them.

Yes it's a spray, and you tape up around the emblems use newspaper, or anything to cover the car around the area. Also I got a lot on my car while plasti dipping my emblems and I just let it dry and it rubs easily off.

Some packages came in today. My coilovers and some LED reverse lights. Can't wait to install the coilovers. Have a busy weekend until Sunday so Sunday the work is going down! Already impressed with the packaging of this product everyone has said nothing but good things about these RSR black coilovers for there cars so hopefully they are just as awesome on the prius! image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Installed the new LED reverse lights look great! And yes my license plate lights do match so it wouldn't look odd haha. IMG_3030.JPG IMG_3032.jpg IMG_3033.JPG

Love your car. I have blacked out my emblems, but left the blue/black plastic behind the front and back Toyota emblem. What are the exact back up LED fixtures that you bought? Can I get a link? Thanks man!

EDIT: Can you also provide the license plate LEDs that you used? Thanks again!

Thanks a lot much more work to come though! I got them on Amazon. I'm not sure about the reverse bulbs exactly but Im pretty sure they are 168 bulbs so you can just search 168 led on Amazon and they will come up. I recommend the company zone tech for the 168 bulb. The reverse lights are 7440 bulbs though. Here's the exact ones I bought.

I don't mind the 15" size, just the plastic covers, wish they'd offer a more presentable 15" alloy, without the covers, silver paint finish, with center caps. When we were buying that was a big factor that tipped us to the Canadian Touring model, with the 215/45R17 tires on nicer alloys.

When I was looking for extra rims for snow tires I was quoted (through dealership parts department) $350 for the 15" and $390 for the 17". That's not much difference, basically the jump in diameter I'd say.

Yeah that's not much for for the bigger more stylish looking rim. And I do agree pretty much every prius owner does just keep the original hubcaps on. But for a lot of the 2013+ I have seen a lot of people doing what I've done just removing the hubcap.

Man I can't wait. Just wish I had some shoes to put on the car too.. Just haven't figured out exactly what offset i need to run for what I want to achieve for my end goal. Here's a better photo of these beauties. I can't wait to install these either.

I think toyota, has the best wheels with hub caps. normally the wheels on cars are ugly without the hub caps atleate with the prius there is a decent alloy under the hub caps. I thought the hub caps on the 2010 to 11s were ugly, but I kinda like the ones on the 2012 to the 14s.

You're meaning the wheel covers I think? Hub caps are the little caps that cover the hubs. ;)

I do not know, it'd be nice to get a nice, cover-less 15" alloy by design, not be making do with whatever they decide to put behind the cover.

Makes me think of the Honda CBR (aka Hurricane) engine. It's completely enclosed by fairings; its a rough, unfinished casting. Yeah I know, the bare rim is not that bad, but I think that's the mindset; toyota doesn't expect that rim to be exposed.

I kinda wonder how they came up with that system. It's pretty unusual. Some one pretty senior insisted on it, so now they're afraid to touch it?

Hello. I like the led bulbs you used for your reverse lights. I need clarification. So are the reverse led bulbs 168 or 7440? I just making sure I get the correct one. I have a toyota prius 2013 also. Thanks.

Hey thanks yeah they are great. The reverse lights are 7440 the ones I posted a picture of are the ones I ordered. The 168 leds are the lights throughout the rest of the car interior, license plate, and head light small bulbs.
