what does your PIP say when fully charged ?

    Mine reads about 10.5 miles when fully charged. I usually get on the freeway and accelerate to 60 or 70 each morning, so I don't get the same range that one would get driving at a steady 25 or 30mph.

    13.1 miles. I have a downhill commute to work 5.9 miles and an uphill commute home 5.9 miles. EV is under 1 mile usually when I get home so it's a pretty good estimate.

    I'm close to believing that plugging in is hardly worth the effort. At the best of times, I get maybe half a liter of benefit from a full plug-in charge. If I don't use the EV charge right away, and keep turning off the EV button, it rapidly dwindles away to about the 6-mile mark, then hovers there the rest of the time. Hypermiling can get it up to 8 or 9 miles, but that's it. I find that driving is more relaxing when I forget about the EV charge altogether.

    20.8 best during the summer, now it is dropping slowly with the cooler autumn days, today 17.4. Actual miles driven per charge around 14-15 driving PiPishly.

    sorry to hear it. i love plugging in, and do so every chance i get. but i do appreciate it more for the ev driving than blended. i find ev to be the most relaxed (and quietest!):)

    I am confused. The op asked what does your pip say when fully charged. Shouldn't this be the same for everyone?? Doesn't that mean how much charge does the battery have?

    Don't worry to much about being confused. After reading in this forum for a while you will probably be less confused about some of what you read and more confused about other things talked about here.
    No. "Estimated EV Miles" available after the PiP is charged is variable, Several posts in this thread try to explain why it is slightly different for most of us and significantly different for a few lucky PiP owners.
    No, that would be the traction packs SOC (State of Charge), and yes the SOC range is the same or close to the same on all PiP's with normal traction packs.
    And if you have an after market scan gauge 2 or Torque ODB2 reader programed correctly you can see SOC is 84 or 85% of the packs full capacity when the car is finished charging the pack.

    Thanks. That makes more sense. I think I will just drive it and enjoy it and over time I will "get it"

    I’ll admit I almost cannot fathom that sentiment. I’ve averaged ~110 mpg lifetime, and I would guess I spend under 10 seconds a day handling the plug. (In any case it is a tiny fraction of the time I formerly spent at the gas station huffing on fumes.) Given, my electricity is cheap and essentially low carbon...
    YMMV indeed!

    I save about a litre of fuel per each full charge. In order to justify the €4,900 difference between regular Prius and a PiP+home chrg. station+cables, I'll have to charge about 3,300 times. With my charging & driving pattern that's about 6 years. :unsure:
    If it wasn't for the ride silence, that avant-garde feeling when plugging-in, and the fact my ride can be less energy dependent (private solar power plant), I'd quit charging long time ago. (y)
