    It's not income. Think of it like like a mail-in rebate on an item you buy at a department store.

    True. But if under certain amount you don't file it. Let me ask my tax lady. Want to be safe then sorry. Edison has to file it somewhere in tax write off.

    I bought my car end of April 2014, filed for this $1500 in early May 2014. Hasn't got my check yet. Anyone got their $1500?

    The delay was due to a funding gap for the rebate program that was reasonably well publicized. The rebates are handled by a private non-profit organization contracted by the state, and when there is money in the bank, the rebates come very quickly (couple of weeks).

    I take it with a grain of salt. $1,500 check in 6 months given to you in good faith that you keep the car for 36 months.
