image.jpg image.jpg Got the Prius C last week... It's a 2014 and I'm loving the fuel savings as gasoline is quite expensive here in Nicaragua

I got a noob question. I go to the dealership every time it tells me that the oil change is required but when I checked today the oil is still good. Am I suppose to change it every 5000 miles or can I continue to drive it until the oil is dark? What do you guys recommend? Help. Thanks!

The "official" duration is now 10K miles per oil change...per Toyota Service...assuming that you're using Toyota Long-Life synthetic oil.

Got bored today, decided to finally stop lurking here on PC. It's a 2012 with just over 100,000 k and a few mods with hopefully plenty more to come.

I would recommend sampling the engine oil at 5,000 miles and sending it in for analysis.

I sent a sample of my used engine oil in at 8600 miles, and the analysis came back with a most favorable report. Fuel dilution, wear metals, and solids were near null values, and I had a great amount of additives left in the engine oil. The company who performed the analysis recommended NOT changing my engines oil until I hit 9-10,000 miles, based on the values of the 5,000 mile oil.

Myself, and many others here use Blackstone Labs for their analysis. However, there are a few others (a google search could provide some reveal).

New to this forum, but not to Prius. In May 2004, we bought this new 2004. The odometer picture was taken on the evening of October 17 2014. It's nearing end-of-life on the second set of tires, but the brakes are still original. No problems, no reason to replace it so long a it keeps on humming!

My first post here. I have been a crazy car modder for the last 15 years, and finally jumped on a 2015 Prius II for a daily, and MAN this car is amazing.

This is my first automatic/cvt and I thought I would hate it, but after driving it for about 1000 miles - I am a true believer. As a daily, this thing rocks. I wish there were more storage compartments in the car, and so far, I can't seem to find a decent seating position. I'm sure it'll come about soon enough, once I log enough miles on the car.

Coming from a background of gasoline turbo builds, the low end electric torque is FANTASTIC. Truly a believer in the hybrid power train.

Since I've purchased the car new last week 10.21.14, i've sent it to the tint shop for a 3M 30% tint all the way around (10 windows in the prius!!!) and lowered it on a set of B&G S2 springs to help dial in the stance just a wee bit. I really couldn't help myself.

Will post some pictures once i get over PC's grace period for posting links

Nice to meet all you guys. I hope to learn all about this Prius Cult i've finally bought in to.

    Love my new car. ;)

I have one heck of a smashing headache from today's festivities... It's been a buttload of mixed emotions on top of the fact I haven't eaten since eeeeeeearrrrly this morning.

What I don't like... eco mode. There's no get up and go.. BUT, that's where the good MPG is coming from. I get it.
Power mode, yes I'm happy with that but I avoid using it unless I need to pull out into crazy traffic since I live in the heart of a big city.
Traffic jams and EV mode make a great combo. My car snaps out of EV mode at 25 mph... the sales guy thought it was 14 mph, but the car surprised the both of us! (y)(y)(y)
Anyway, Great storage in the car. I'm pleased. I did the right thing while everyone else continues investing in gas guzzlers.:whistle::whistle:

Goodnight. Glad I found this forum. I am going to need the knowledge one of these days!
