HELP: brake rotor different on driver side and passenger side?

    I have a 2005 Prius and bought pads and rotors to do the front brake job. I did the drivers side and that went smoothly the rotor came right off and the pads changed easily. Now I move onto the passenger side and the rotor looks like it is held on by the axle nut?? The drivers side is not like that, am I crazy? Even if I were to remove the axle nut and remove the rotor, the new rotor does not have the hub-centric lip on it. I have pictures to show you what I am referring to ( you can see drivers side it is 2 separate pieces and the passenger side is 1 piece).

    Something is not right, and I've never seen this before in any of my cars.

    I can't even return the rotors or pads now that I have opened and already installed the drivers side.:mad:

    Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

    looks the same to me, just a lot more corroded. that's some serious corrosion, even on the axle threads, compared to the drivers side. anyway, i've never seen anyone mention that they are different.

    I used a sharp pointed tip to scrap away the rust between the hub centric lip and the rotor and it looks like a solid one piece. I've tried tapping the rotor with a hammer and its not coming loose.

    if you read thru some brake threads here, you will find that many have had trouble getting the rotors off. check out spiderman's recent thread, i think he soaked them in wd40 overnight.

    See the two tapped holes in disc? Get a couple of M8x1.25 thread bolts (Home Despot should have them), about an inch or more long. Slowly screw them into both holes. With the heavy corrosion go slow, screw it in a bit 'till it binds, then back it out, blow out the junk with compressed air of some sort, repeat. Eventually you'll get them both through. Then screw them in against the hub, a half turn at a time, alternating. Eventually it should pop free, possibly spectacularly.

    (Gotta say though, your pictures look pretty convincing of your thoughts on this, does look like the centre hub and disk are one component. Hopefully not.)

    If you look carefully at the picture where the wheel stud comes through the rotor you can see it is not centered in the hole proving that it is a separate item. A spray with WD40 and using two bolts as suggested should get it free. A sharp tap with a hammer once the two bolts are tight will help.

    All is fixed now, thanks everyone!

    I didn't know what those 2 holes were for? I have seen other cars with a screw holding the rotor to the hub flange, but I had no clue why the 2 holes had screws missing for the Prius, but now it all makes sense. I had my father who was a retired auto tech, show me what those 2 holes are there for.
