I believe the mfg originally recommended changing transmission fluid every 100K miles, but I heard they have appended that recommendation to 80K, due to issues. I would go out and check it ASAP. The fluid lubricates both the tans-axle and the electric motor (gears?).
Mine was like tar at 300K and it ruined the transmission, I had to replace it because the car stopped running.

Yeah, the dealership will say that it's good for the life of the vehicle, but how long is the life of the vehicle? Because I think we've all exceeded the 'expected life.' I've been told by independent shops and others on PriusChat to change the fluid every 100k for normal/light driving, and to change it every 60k miles for hard driving. I'm planning on changing it every 60k.

Hi. (2008/75k). I am a new Prius owner. Don't know much about fluids or brake pads etc., but I do know the hybrid engine of the Prius sure is pretty. Prettier than any engine I have ever seen! I get great milage (47mpg) , I am grateful for that .. I take great care of the interior and exterior. I notice that other people on this site do also. It makes me feel comfortable knowing there are other people who love their Prii.

I am so glad to be amongst this group of people.

    Long live the Prius!

It's interesting, haven't seen any major accomplishments on here of Prius cars over 300,000 miles in a while. I kind of miss following the 2fas4u story.

    wow! can you post pics?

It sounds like 306000-15=305085, or 305.085K
We at PriusChat prefer honesty and accuracy. :)

yes original battery pack - but capacity has dropped a lot. I go from full bars to 2 bars very quickly. Ive been meaning to test the individual cells and see if a couple have gone bad.

    These cars are almost unbelievable.

Browns' battery degradation is more likely due to the Texas heat rather than the miles. If you car is similar to his, it will develop engine oil consumption problems way before the traction battery shows any problem.

It would be super interesting to see if the grid charger with the discharger in the priuschat shop would help your battery. That would make a good advertisement for them... maybe they could donate one? Lol

So my 04 is 400K newer than yours?
I know one day I'll hate it so much, because it simply doesn't give me an excuse to get a newer one :)
