Obviously I don't keep up with such shitty nice person car company. Is it truly Italian car? No, it's still the same crappy American muscle car. Don't kid yourself. Just because it got bought by Fiat doesn't mean it's Italian. You're probably one of those who thought that they bought a Mercedes when Chrysler and MB merged backed in the late 90's. Chrysler was one the the big three US auto makers. Ohh no, we're back down to big two auto makers now that Chrysler is sold to Fiat. I don't buy that when a car company is sold to a foreign country it became that country's origin. Dodge is still an American car company no matter who owns it. They still make the same crappy car as they did the years before.
Is Toyota Tundra an American truck? It's designed here, made here and sold only in the Americas. To most, Tundra is still a rice burner from Japan. If you goto Ford truck, Chevy truck and Ram truck forum, you'll see how much shit they talk about the Tundra.

    CP,

Dodge---Dead on Day Guarantee Expires. Every time I hear dodge I think of Al Bundy and his Duster..... LOL

Tundra- its a Japanese truck made in america... Plenty of other companies do the same thing... In fact I believe that there are a few foreign cars have a higher US parts source content than cars made by Ford or Chevy.... My last Chevy was "mexican" as is my wifes Saturn.

When Mercedes bought into Chrysler I really felt that it was going to be good for the company. Merc realized it was not a good thing for them and got out quick. Never owned any Chryslers...

The auto industry has become so global , citing a vehicles nationality is almost humorous anymore. Even more so when it comes to "american cars" I don't think many new factories have come up in the states originating from the "big 3 (2)" But they are more than willing to open them overseas... But the foreign car makers have been investing in America (probably huge tax breaks is one reason and shorter shipping lanes another)

I have a few friends from the deep south that love their dodges...and any chance I get I ask them how their FIAT is doing... :)

In america, if you adopt an out of country child before the age of 18...they become an American citizen. Assuming the same conditions apply in Italy, You live in Italy and Adopt an American child, Child becomes an Italian Citizen...

The fact is that Chrysler is no longer an American owned company. They will still be considered one of the "big three" here in the states, which in the grand scheme of things means nothing. There are japanese companies building cars on us soil but they will still be considered japanese cars based on where the company is headquartered.

Dodge is about as much a FIAT as a Ferarri or Maserati......oooo wait..I can't use that example since they too are owned by FIAT...

Its all good. we've strayed way off topic...

    Fix It Again Tony....

There's nationality then there's citizenship. When the Italian couple take the baby out and people ask "ohh how cute, what is he?" Is the couple going to answer "he's American" or "he's Italian"? Since American and Italian are closely related and can easily be passed as one or another, lets change the baby to Japanese. Now ask the same question again. Will the couple answer "He's Japanese" or "He's Italian?"

Nationality is who you really are. It goes down to your DNA. Citizenship is only a place of residence. Anybody can change their Citizenship. Doesn't matter how much make up and cosmetic surgery one gets, they can't change who they are. The Charger Hellcat has 100% American DNA. No body cares it's got Italian citizenship.

Now back to "quickest 4 door sedan" Dodge advertised quickest 1/4 mile but didn't mention anything about 0-60. That belongs to the P85D. Either way, neither cars are German, nationality wise or citizenship.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the whole merican/Italian thing

The dodge did it on street legal tires. Albeit sticky ones the p85 could have done the same thing

When magazines do car tests often times they swap out tires or the car makers send the car with some minor tweaks to get the good numbers they put pro drivers in the car they wait for ideal conditions and so on.

What we really need is a head to head race as equipped from the factory. Same location same air. Full tank of gas /electrons. And see what happens. Either way it would be a good show

in the same vein as NOT a sedan . . . . . does it matter? The OP's article compares the Tesla to exotics such as the McLaren F1 ... last time I checked ... you'd hardly consider them to be sedans.
oh irony of ironies .... nothing is more pathetic & humorous then when you hear of the notion, "Made in America". It means the ad man has completely bamboozled their dopy customers ... that their vehicle is made in the U.S.A. when in fact the block may come from China - while the rear end
gets machined in Mexico ... & the doors may come from Canada ... then the rest comes together in the U.S. ..... but I hope they never figure it out because hearing their made in American goof is just priceless.

Agreed although I think the article was directly referring to the Audi RS 7. The McLaren was what Elon designed the P85D to beat in 0-60mph. :)

Wow, did I read that right. I have asked the bread of dogs, but never babies. Maybe it is a generational thing, but some families are so mixed, and there has been so much, oh, well, nevermind.

Chrysler isn't a baby, its a reorganization of a 100 year old auto company. I would say Chrysler is like a spoiled woman, bailed out by her uncle sam twice, divorced by Mercedes, and now in a shot gun wedding to fiat. If she can't keep it together for this marriage right, she may be done for. Chrysler was pregnant with the hell cat when she hooked up with fiat, but fiat is taking responsibility for the baby. No one really wants to know who the baby daddy is. The hellcat is a mutt. Who really cares. The thing is if the tesla put on the helcats tires, I think tesla can easily take it.;)

That GT-R, I'd say they should fit the tesla us with similar tires and race it, and the helcat. My money would be on the GT-R first, tesla second, helcat 3rd. The tesla 85D is probably fast enough for me, not much chance to accelerate past the mid fours around here.

Read the title of the thread.... "Worlds quickest 4 door sedan isn't german anymore" IMO that meant the OP was looking toward 4 door sedans not 2 door coupes rerdless of the article.

if we want to go fastest street legal, lingenfelter's got a 12 year old vette that is still tops.. but its only slightly modified.. :)

there are several production sports cars faster then the GTR...a few of them even affordable. I' d love to take an ariel atom for ride..

    Austin,

I think the tesla could take the hellcat if they were similarly equipped on one or two runs.

if you did a standard drag race, pre stage, stage, and tree, the GTR would not get off the line until the tesla and hellcat are already slowing down after the finish..

Yeah, that was really screwed up. Watching that launch was worse than reading about it. GTR loses to both just for being to complicated to start normally.

Nissan Skyline GTR at one time was available in a sedan variation.

It may not be the fastest by today's standard but it was the fastest in its own time.

Car Brands | Who Owns Which Cars Brands? - Consumer Reports
So let me get this straight. Volkswagen is the most luxurious and the fastest production car ever built. Jaguar and Land Rover are Indian cars. Mazda is American. Nissan is French. And Volvo is Chinese? Renault Leaf anyone? Is Vibe Japanese or American?

Dodge did a piss poor job with the Hellcat. They concentrate so hard on the engine that they forgot how to put all that power onto the road. If you look at all the videos, there are long lags where the vehicle doesn't accelerate during gear changes. Why didn't they use all wheel drive instead of RWD? Dual clutch would also reduce lag. Street tires on a 700+HP car? They're seriously trying to make a 700+HP car as slow as possible.

You never wondered what the hell Brad and Angelina's kids are? because they sure aint Americans. About 15 years ago we had this couple that frequent my parents' restaurant. One day they brought this extremely adorable toddler Asian girl. This baby girl drew a crowd. Everyone was asking what she is. The proud parent said she's Chinese. We adopted her from China. In the following 5 years, never once did the parent said "She's American."

hellcat- I'm guessing either trying to keep the tires from evaporating or trying to not break any metal bits when the tires do hook up...

CP.. the pontaic vibe and toyota matrix was an intersting excursion. the Vibe cost more, and had poorer ratings when compared to the identical toyota matrix. resale value for the matrix was also higher...

The "cross pollination"of auto brands ...It seems that everyone has had their hands in each others pockets at some point in time...

In 2011, the car with the most US content was a Toyota Avalon made in Kentucky at 85%. The Buick I compared wasn't even close.

Chrysler mini-vans were made in Canada (I had one with a Mitubishi engine...actually 3 engines by 120k miles). Most low end Ford cars now are made in Mexico. Many BMWs in Carolina.

    So who knows...
