Remember if you plan on using the iOS app, you have to order the wifi version

Well, don't jump the gun quite yet. Give us a couple of weeks (or more) to get into it before ordering. Yes, there will be beta testing, and I'll post about it in this thread.

Your response was a lot nicer than mine would have been. ;)

You did not double your price, the introductory offer simply expired, not sure why that is so hard to understand. This is very standard practice and even though I haven't purchased yet, I won't complain about being late to the party and having to pay full price when I get home to buy it.

Even though I didn't think you'd have any liability, I think it was prudent to check with a lawyer before you added the seat-belt feature. My take is it's your app and you can support whatever features you want, liability or not. Keep up the good work!

I believe the issue seems that the 'introductory pricing' wasn't said it was that until price went up. An example is
some members thought they paid $20 and were told that was a mistake and they would be refunded the $10 if they were. Turned out they weren't over charged. Nothing mentioned that the $10 pricing was an introductory one and would be expiring.

Guys, for the last time, pricing is a dynamic concept. Prices change all the time. Carista's price will most likely change again in the future, multiple times. The initial price was not marketed as "introductory" but it was indeed experimental and introductory - we were trying to get quick initial adoption of the product, so that's why we started with a low price. Like most companies, we did not publish our pricing plans for the future.

The particular case where I said someone would be refunded was a case when the user thought he had been charged TWICE for the same purchase (at the old price of $10) and I said if that had somehow happened, I'd definitely give him a refund for one of the charges. Obviously. Any decent business would do that. This has nothing to do with a change in price. By the way, it turned out he had gotten confused - he had only gotten charged once.

We should have started with a price of $100 and then lowered it gradually, kinda like Apple did with the original iPhone. Would you have been happy then? (probably not: those who would have bought it at a higher price would have felt screwed and would have complained). Can't win.

Just look at the current price and decide for yourself whether the product is worth that price to you. If not, move along. If yes, buy it and enjoy it. Thanks.

I shipped my 2010 prius to Africa, I want to find out if the BAFX Products - Bluetooth OBD2 scan tool will work there, I check it up on amazon and saw the emphasis on "all vehicles located in the USA 1996 & newer!?

They're talking about the OBD2 compatibility of the device... which has nothing to with the Toyota-specific compatibility that Carista needs. But yes, if your car is a 3rd-generation Prius, Carista should work with it. And any good-quality ELM327 v1.4 or newer Bluetooth device will work fine.

"but there's a good chance that the next version will be able to turn off the chime" -- (Carista software, to disable seatbelt beep) OK. this sounds like the best option. "But if you REALLY are annoyed by it, I'm sure you can take out the bulb somehow... (again, not recommended)." -- yes that seems like a bad idea. I also hate the beeping, so I disabled it and now I have 2 flashing red warning lights. I wish (best solution in my opinion) you could change the 12 mph setting to a higher value (25 mph) because I normally take off my seatbelt only at slow speeds, but above 12 mph. (for example 15 mph is common) I do this to prepare to exit my vehicle quickly.

reference, from page 6 of this forum:
"Also can Carista turn off the annoying blinking seatbelt light?"
"No, it cannot turn off the seat belt light (.....but there's a good
chance that the next version will be able to turn off the chime)."

notes: the seatbelt beep is temporary, and it activates only at >12 mph.

    Hello, Todor,

I have a Gen II 2004 Prius. Can you suggest an Android OBDII app that allows me to access configuration on my Prius? As you noted above, the Carista app only supports this for models newer than 2006. Thanks.

Guys, I'm happy to announce that we released version 2.2 of Carista officially last week, and you can now turn off the seat belt warning. I still urge you to wear your seat belt, but if the beep itself annoys you, you can turn it off with Carista. Enjoy :)

About the Gen II Prius: I'm not aware of any mobile apps for any platform that can access its configuration. It's not possible to communicate with it through the currently-available ELM327 devices (I know because we tried and experimented with it). The only option is the dealer or Techstream on an old 32-bit Windows laptop (or on a virtual machine with a 32-bit Windows).

Todor, just wanted to let you know that I bought the app last night and had successfully turned off both the backup continuous beeps and the seat belt warning beeps, as well as adjusting a few other customizations, such as one touch unlock all doors on the key fob. Many thanks for creating this app. It is well worth $20. One of my college degrees was in computer science, so I am fully capable of using a console program to query and change settings via the OBDii port. But my time is much better spent doing something else than fiddling with hex codes. Your app does the job easily with a simple and elegant interface. Well-done!

Too bad there's no 1 push button to in the settings to keep the drl's on with the headlights and fog lights (without having to re wire stuff) is that ever a possibility @Todor?

    Todor:

Back some time ago you said there was no iOS app for Carista OBD II, after reading these forums it appears you might be coming out with one. Do you have a release date of when that will be and will there be a cost for it?

Also which sensor should I get from amazon there are too many to choose from.

    Thanks,
    Arash

No, for Android you need a Bluetooth ELM327. And make sure it's NOT a v2.1 device, as those are practically always fake and don't work. Also make sure it's not an OBDLink because they implement ELM327 v1.3, whereas Carista needs a minimum of v1.4. See: Hardware | Carista OBD2 - Vehicle Diagnostics and Customization

EDIT: I didn't see you had actually posted a link to a Bluetooth device. Yes, you can use that BAFX device that you linked to, and in fact, we've gotten good feedback about this particular one from our users.

Great to hear about the IOS app.
Now I just need to sort through the millions of WiFi ELM327 on Amazon and pick one out.
Anyone out there purchased one for the iPhone yet? I have the 6 Plus.

    Thanks,
    Alan
