    Hello all,
I purchased a 2009 Toyota Prius, everything was fine, had the car detailed. After that the fobs started to work intermittently and then quit. So I thought this is easy, either the keyless button under the dash is pressed or my fob batteries are dead. So I checked both and replaced my batteries, with no luck.
After further troubleshooting I realized that non of the SKS functionality is working.
I then used my tester to log into the Body Control Module and found no codes.
I changed the batteries again and got nothing.
I then used the SKS key programming instructions and the car doesn't even recognize the smart keys during programming.
Finally I took it to the dealer, who told me both of my fobs are bad, so I bought a brand new one and had them program it, still didn't fix it...

Now they want to spend 5 hours to disassemble the front dash and check the ground... Which makes no sense to me, can anyone help?? Please...

    Thank you in advance.

If they charged you and it didn't fix the problem, why did you pay? I would bring it back for a refund. There's nothing wrong with your old fobs.

Check your fuses, the detailer might have blown one. Hope he didn't spray your engine with water.

    I haven't yet.

I don't see any fuses pertaining the smart key or entry system, yes they washed the engine with water as I have done in the past many times.

Well I would definitely return the fob, and the programming charge....what did they program if it doesn't work? They diagnosed the program incorrectly, you shouldn't have to pay for their error.

Thank you, I am trying to figure this issue out, so if anyone has any suggestions on which fuses to check or what to do next that would be great. I will be unhooking the 12volt batter and letting it sit for a few...

it's not the 12v, I'm looking up the repair manual right now, if I find the troubleshooting info, I'll post it.

Does your car start without using it in the key slot?

    try this from another member

I'd try the following sequence and see if it helps,
    1) pull out the button under the steering wheel to turn off the SkS system
    2) put fob in slot and start the car as you normally do
    3) shut off the car
    4) remove fob from slot
    5) push in SKS button under the wheel
Exit car and lock the door. Walk away from the car, at least 75 feet away.
    6) walk back to car and see if SKS is working properly, if not go to dealer and tell them you've tried all the normal remedies and nothing works.
