In reading through this thread I gather that the question about ICE operation at road speeds between 42 MPH and 62 MPH hasn't been definitively answered. I use Torque and have found that in non EV modes the ICE will turn at road speeds above about 45 MPH and that If I'm cruising along at up to 62 MPH and select EV mode ICE will drop to ZERO RPM. I use this to do a higher speed pulse and glide as I can accelerate to 62 MPH or less, back off the pedal and simultaneously push the EV mode button and glide, using no battery power, with ICE off. If my speed drops below 45 I cancel EV mode and continue the glide. Using pulses (in HV mode) to 62 and glides (in EV mode) to 50 works well on 55 MPH roads and usually yields 65-70 MPG. In HV mode the PIP behavior is just like a non plug in (ICE turns above 42 MPH even when attempting to glide) but in EV mode (note EV mode requires sufficient charge in the traction battery) the PIP's ICE is off below 62MPH!

The original poster also asked about peak battery current. I briefly saw a reading of 195 amps when I accelerated hard from 55 mph in EV mode.

pretty sure that if you just drive 50 the whole time your fuel economy will not be appreciably worse.

i'm glad we don't drive on the same roads though…

How are you monitoring current? I have a Scangauge II and can't find the codes needed to do this monitoring. I would also like to monitor the voltage in the battery pack. I'd be interested in your solution to this measurement.

I think he is using Torque app.
