In my view, the measure of an engine oil is how much metal it allows to wear. Most synthetics do an excellent job of this.

This is like asking if you should use Chevron or Shell. You can't go wrong with either choice.

I like Toyota 0W20. Something like $5.63 (Can) per litre, always in stock, and I'm there getting the filter cartridge and drain bolt washer, so hey.

I don't think cost of oil is an issue when you consider the price of an engine replacement.
BTW, it's actually cheaper when you can safely double the oil-change interval.

I believe Toyota buys their oil from ExxonMobil. If that is still true, thank you for buying Toyota or Mobil1 oil.

I never replace my drain bolt washer (it's a metal+rubber) for my 2006 sienna and never had any leak problem. Haven't done for my Prius C.

Filter I will go WIX. Not sure about toyota OEM filter but I think WIX is the best one.

I looked up the Canadian Tire flyer, saw the $25.98 cost for 4.4 liters of Mobil 1, but in a heavier grade, maybe 5W30. They're really keeping their lamp under a basket if they're also selling 0W20 at that price, unadvertised.

Still, getting Toyota 0W20 every 6 months at the dealership parts counter, for $5.63 per liter, works for me.
