The Bottom Line: my comprehensive coverage covered it.

It would have been $1,000 as my 100,000 mile warranty doesn't cover it of course. "Flying Object" is the right terminology for the insurance company... same kind of thing as if the rock had hit my windshield.

Also took care of the rental car. So I'm just out the $100 deductible and a few nights hotel.
Roadside assistance covered the tow as it was under $100 bucks.
I brought the dinged radiator home with me. It is the tiniest little ding, and I can't even see a hole. I would have been better off had whatever it was hit the windshield.

Being so far from home, tools and my garage, with a dog and several days camping gear in tow, my mechanical inclination was only handy in dealing with the dealership. It has been 15 years since I've handed over a vehicle for someone else to work on, and it was hard to watch. Ugh.
That said, it was kinda nice not having to do the work myself for once, and I do think North Park Toyota of San Antonio did a good job and were up front with me. The car made it the 400 miles home today with no issues. No issues it seems from the tow, either. What I found on the forums here helped me filter what they were telling me, too. So, thanks again guys. I hope my experience helps out someone else as they read about it here.

I'll be putting some mesh type grill guard in soon, and taking some alternate roads so's to avoid the rock trucks so prevalent in my area.

Now it's time to turn on the fireplace and move to a lighter side of PriusChat.

Did I see a thread for cat pics...?

A metal recycler will pay some decent money for the rad if you decided to get rid of it.

Regarding the grill, on our now retired 2005 Durango Limited I installed the E&G Classics EG Classics Inc.: Products, and nothing but the smallest of insects made it through...and it looked very nice. The Corolla S we replaced it with now has this available http://www.egclassic.com/inventory/uploads/hr_4687434K.jpg and I will likely install that soon. They do not currently offer one for the Prius lines, but think I just might just give them a call and see if this is something they might consider a market exists for.

...anyway, glade everything worked out better than it could have for you.

I threw out a radiator a few years ago and left it outside my curb for recyclers. It was gone in less than 5 minutes

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes but seems everything worked out in the end in your favor.

I know you said the shiny spot on the pic you posted is where the damage was, but honestly what damage? It looks like one fin on the rad is slightly bent? Did the tiny rock make a bullet type hole lol? Pinhole in the front and blow out the rear? Am just wondering as I'm kinda worried now that something so small that can't even be seen really can totally disable the prius..
