Pulled OBD fuse, now MFD black.

Car was running. Both rear running lights out.
Intended to pull #9 'stop' fuse. (I did not see #16 'tail' fuse)
    Instead, pulled #8 'OBD' fuse.
    Returned the #8 OBD fuse.

And now the MFD is black. No logo. Nothing.

The big display, climate, etc buttons do nothing.

Steering wheel recirculating and defrosters buttons do work. Heater temp and fan is still on at possibly the same settings as when I pulled the fuse.
Stereo does not work at all, with either the steering wheel or dash buttons (power, volume, etc).
    The clock is out.

I am having a rough time keeping up with issues and which versions they pertain to.

There is no #24 ACC fuse.

I recall reading some mention of the ECU power module or something like that, but don't recall enough to find what it was about, or if it could cause such an issue.

The check engine light comes on every so often (as always), so I suppose that means the OBD is still working.

It makes no sense to me that the OBD fuse being out a couple minutes would black out the MFD.

I am guessing there is some reset or something?

The only thing I could figure was to try was just to leave it sit over night and try later.
Then removed the OBD fuse for 4 hours, replaced it, and tried again.

I hear you asking: Why was it running? Why the wrong fuse? I am a part time pizza guy. No stop lights, busy as heck at pizzaland, wet clothes, dark parking lot, windy as heck, and 0'F. Every little bit of heat helped.

I have a strong electrical background, just not much of a Prius background because I never needed it!

Any help or ideas greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

There is no need to wait several hours. If an electrical circuit doesn't work, waiting is not going to improve the situation, especially with regards to something as simple as powering the MFD or the brake lights.

Regarding the MFD, check the following fuses:

    15A DOME
    15A ECU-B
    7.5A ECU-IG
7.5A ACC (if there is no fuse, replace it now!!)

Regarding the brake lights, check the following fuse:
    7.5A STOP

If you are aware of any other missing fuses, you need to replace them now.

In all cases, "check" means that you use an ohmmeter to verify continuity. Do not rely upon visual inspection.

Buy the correct replacement fuses at your Toyota dealer's parts counter, or at least bring a fuse with you when you go to your local discount auto parts store to make sure you get the correct form-factor fuses which are very small.

Have a decent flashlight in the car to give you a chance if you need to inspect fuses in the middle of the night. You need to look at the main relay/fuse box in the engine compartment next to the inverter, as well as the fuse box located near the steering column under the instrument panel.

Do you know why the check engine light comes on? If you don't know why, get Mini VCI (which requires a Windows XP or Windows 7, 32 bit OS laptop) so that you can retrieve the logged DTC.

It sounds like your car has more than one issue. Since you are depending upon it for your part-time income, I suggest you identify all of its issues and fix them where possible; rather than continue to ignore the occasional warning light that comes on.

If you still have problems, get the electrical wiring diagram at techinfo.toyota.com

First Patrick, let me thank you for your time and knowledge.

I am not clear on what to check in the main relay/fuse box in the engine compartment.

I know a Chevy or 2 that has to wait if power is lost to a circuit or 2, so that was the hope.
Dome lights all work, every one.
Pulling the inside plastic cover brought on the drivers side tail light. Same with the passenger side. Got me why. They are still working.

ACC fuse was not in it when I got it with low miles in 2011 from a Toyota dealer. A completely useless Toyota dealer (Boardman, OH) at least as far as a Prius goes. Called the service dept several times a day for 2 weeks, called them 30 times in 1 day until a salesman answered the phone and put me on indefinite hold. Meaning I don't know why the check engine light comes on. Local shop has the full-blown diagnostics and will check it for me for free but I keep forgetting when it is possible to get it in there.

I always have a VOM in the car.
Blew the power port fuse with a 5 x #1156 pizza sign, bought a 3-pack at the parts store (lesson learned), and then ordered a giant assortment pack online.
3-cell LED Mag Light wouldn't fit under there with me very well.

I will check the ECU-B and ECU-IG first, then all the others for good measure.

ACC fuse, got it. Pizza time for me now, OSU game later and a bunch of snow now so it will probably be tomorrow morning before I can actually get much of that accomplished. The traction control light will be severely tested today.

    Thanks again.

    Thank You!

Checked ECU-B and ECU-IG. Both fine.
    Installed a 7.5A in ACC.
I did not have high hopes.
    However...
    It works!

    Thanks again!

    They still work.
I have no idea why they were out. After I checked the (wrong) fuse, I went for the bulbs. Pulling the plastic trim in the back made them turn on, drivers side trim pulled off and that one came on. Same with the other side 30 seconds later.
It was below 0F. Cold can do funny things to cars.
