My dealer charged me a $79 Documentation fee they claimed for paperwork. I paid cash. Should I have protested it? What have been your experiences with it.

you got off easy. lots of big cities are charging in the $400 range. it's all profit. most won't negotiate on a car that's in such demand.

Same here. Our dealer here in Orlando used to charge around $600 (just 6 months ago). Now their doc fee is $750!!!

I'd be SUPER HAPPY to pay only $79!!!

It's just an extra profit for the dealership. I do believe most of it does go to the Southeast Regional folks...

California limits the doc fee to $45. The dealers use that fact as "evidence" that the state "requires us to charge it." But of course they don't HAVE to charge $45.

But I have never been able to get them to drop it. Its pure profit, of course.
