Hi. My name is Danny and I'm new in the Prius Community. My car was stolen and after I recover it, I realize that the thieves cut my Obd2 port(I don't no why).I found the plug on ebay but I don't know how to connect it. The dealer told me that I have to buy the whole electrical harness for $2000....Anybody can help me with a diagram or some photos. Also I'm looking to buy a driver airbag ,knee airbag, air filter box with the sensor, navigation, the Jbl located under the passenger seat. amp from another total lost vehicle.I'm trying to install a regular radio, but the dealer told me that the plugs are different , so I need a radio diagram also .Any help appreciated.

Dumb question. Why isn't your insurance company just taking care of all this for you? Why should you have to do the work yourself?

Suggest you post in the 3rd Gen Prius forum and not in the Prius v forums.

Dealers aren't into the technical wiring logic of the cars generally. They are into module replacement as the most efficient way of fixing the car for the least amount of skilled labor costs.

Just report the post please. Mentioning it to the OP just makes them repost it again in another forum and this one sits here if a Moderator doesn't see its in the wrong place. Thanks :)

    Danny,
See if you can purchase the service manual for your year Prius. It should have the color coding and wiring positions for the connections you need. Otherwise, there are some on-line options for finding a current wiring diagram to help you.

If you don't mind my asking, how did the thieves get the car going unless they had a corresponding SmartKey or towed it away?

As the other person said, your insurance should be handling the repairs. Why are you having to do all this? Guess the low instance of Prius thefts are becoming a myth as the Prius parts black market gets going. PM me if I can be of any additional assistance.

The car was paid in full and did not have the full insurance to cover the damage. They break the lock to get into the car.

I drove the car without the plug for a while, but now it stall on the freeway and have the message "check hybrid system" .there is a recall for software upgrade but I cannot do it without that Obd2 plug.thx

Danny - you got a pm

    a few suggestions:
Splices should be _very_ carefully planned & installed. There are "bus" leads that do not like sloppy workmanship.
If you can solder & heatshrink the connections, that would probably be OK.
If not, I would suggest finding someone who can & pay then to do a quality job.
I would not use crimp type connectors/splices here - the connections need to be perfect, for the life of the vehicle.

This connector & its wiring is the _only_ way anyone can diagnose the Prius
