A tale of two tanks -
Los Angeles to San Francisco via I-5 and 580, attempted to maintain speed about 80 mph, 42.2 mpg.
San Francisco to Los Angeles at 70 mph, 51.0 mpg.

It should reset automatically on a fillup. P. 168 of my 2006 manual says "When the 'Reset' switch is touched or more than 10L (2.6gal, 2.2 imp. gal) fuel is supplied, the average fuel consumption is reset." So you probably don't have to reset it manually...it resets to give tank average.
So you came right through Cambria!

 Returning to Dallas from the Texas Hill Country - ~250 miles mostly Interstate, cruising 70-75 MPH, my mileage was 54.5 MPG. I have always done 48-55 MPG in sustained freeway driving.

Probably not true ... my 2001 certainly doesn't get mileage that low at that speed. I get 48-52 when at "full speed", sometimes much higher but never much lower except when going uphill.

The overall mileage on my car since I've had it (I've never hit the reset button) is right at 48 mpg.

Despite what the manual says, it does not reset the average MPG automatically on the 2006, at least the early ones. This has been discussed at length in January just after the first few of us got the new models.

Mine only does the "mileage" automatically.. but the average I have to do manually.... I guess that was their way of giving you a choice in case you wanted to see what the average was on a whole trip verses per tank.

Please note that the simulator is for the NHW-10 original Prius and it has different specs with your NHW-11 classic.
Anyway, the mileage number of the driving simulator is not accurete.

In So. Cal. if you put in 76 Gas, yes, any other works great and wil get you about 45+ MPG (Not sure why 76 Gas is sucha problem in my car, with Shell or Chevron at those speeds I tend to get about 46-47 MPG).

45 to 47 mpg @ 70 mph driving I-5 over the Grapevine (Transition Range), along the west side of the Great Central Valley (east side of Coast Range) and I-80 over Donner Pass in the Sierra Nevada.

I finally broke the 40 mpg barrier. So far I had not been able to, but last week I was in a big hurry. I drove about 60 miles at 90-95 mph and finally got 39.4 mpg.

It really says a lot that you have to drive that fast in order to get that kind of mileage.

Oh, and that was with the A/C on the whole way too.

Did someone die where you had to drive that fast? Was someone in labor?

Have you seen what happens to a person (and a car) during collisions at those speeds? Do you know what the fine is for being caught?

Thank you for your concern. No death, no labor. Yes, I know the answers to your questions.

I was not asking for your approval or opinion though. There has been a thread where this was discussed in great length (A Priuschat member drove his Prius at 105 mph), so no further discussion is necessary.

I was posting that it took those speeds for me to drop below an average of 40 mpg. That's all.

My consumption screen doesn't reset automatically when I refuel. I have to reset it manually (by pressing the 'reset' button in the bottom right on the screen) to reset both the mpg and the miles. I like to see miles at 0 and mpg at 0.0 to start off each fresh tank. Maybe I'm just weird though.

Yeah, we passed thru Cambria around 5pm-ish. My family stayed there for a week one summer, for the 4th of July. Must've been 15 or 16 years ago. Cute town, loved it!!

I have about 2500 miles on my new Prius, and the best mileage I have gotten so far is 46 MPG with mostly speed limit driving and easy accelerations. I seem to average about 41 MPG with moderate to aggressive driving. I never use the AC, but do have this nagging pull to the left.

I have had the dealership check out the pulling issue, and they tell me the alignment is fine and I’m experiencing torque related pulling. My Fiancé has a 2002 Prius, and it has no pull whatsoever. I think the dealership is feeding me a line of ___. Based on the changes of the way the car pulls after rotating the tires (use to pull to the right), I do suspect that my alignment is fine, and my tires are the real issue.
