Did you get option package you wanted?

Hi: To those of you on the lucky side of the Prius waiting list: It looks like most of the cars coming into the Seattle area have the #9 option package on it. I think most of the Prii sold nationwide have this option package. I orignally didn't want to fork out the extra 5k for it (see other post "option #9 worth it?") , but it looks like I might have to.
My question is really to those of you who did not want the deeeeeluxe car: did you get what you wanted or did you find you had to upgrade in order to get a Prius at all? This is NOT about whether the package is worth the money, just about the allocation logistics. The best answers would come from those of you in the Pacific Northwest.
    Thanks,
    Bob

No, I didn't get the option package I wanted.

I wanted just the airbags and rear wiper.

I got the airbags, rear wiper and smart start & entry.

I have no regrets at all. I love the added feature.

I don't think you should compromise on what you want, but be willing to accept more.

    Wanted the rear wiper only.

Opted for an AM-7 that just sort of showed up at a dealer in Tacoma on Saturday, October 24.

More than we wanted, bigger monthly payment, but the car was there and so were we. So of course we bought it.

Love the AM-7 package, especially in the Northwest.

I'd recommend this package over the 9 package unless one is desperate for GPS, a CD Changer and bluetooth.

It's more of a Toyota Canada thing, but they didn't even offer the Nav / Bluetooth / HID options here.

I had to spend my money buying a rather expensive 3rd party GPS instead of buying something that Toyota could've charged me for (and I would've more than happily paid for).

Ah well. Nobody ever said company suits were smart at making decisions...

I ordered a black #9 in July, was offered a salsa #9 in Nov but held out for the black one, which I got on Dec 17. I'm in NE.

    Peace

I wanted package #8, and the anti-theft system as an add-on. No go.

I settled on #9, despite the side-curtain airbags I was trying to avoid. At the time, I was reading about the growing unavailability of certain packages, and getting a 'loaded' car seemed best.

I am starting to regret not ordering mats. I can't find a source of decent front mats that include the hooks on the bottom to prevent the mats from sliding forward. The $10 PepBoys mats I got dont' cover the whole area well, and the $30 ones I saw yesterday look heavy enough but have tiny cleats that may not grab. They are blue, though, and I'd really prefer blue mats...

I don't want expensive-to-replace airbags where they won't do me much good. I am alone in my car 98% of the time. That used to leave one extra airbag to worry about, now there's an entire side added.

Plus, I'd have to see tests where the driver benefits from a head-on collision with them. Carson Toyota's site includes:
Well, I'm not counting on a side hit. Not having the bags deploy in the offset test used for safety testing is a minus, since I've seen the test dummy's head hit the window quite a few times. Paying for something that won't help and would boost the repair cost just sounds silly.

I doubt a car with side airbags becomes a magnet for that kind of accident, so due to lack of side impacts I would prefer to have done without the extra equipment and cost...

    package choice and reality

I " ordered" a package 3, but found a pkg 7 elsewhere, so chose to spend more for the car that existed. Still no word on the one on 'order', 8 weeks and counting. Love the HID headlights and SE though...

Are you going to buy the one you ordered originally also? If so, great, if not you really should call and let them know you got one elsewhere. It only confuses and complicates the process for everyone (those hopefully waiting and the dealers who have dead orders on their list) when there are defunct orders floating around.

When I orderd there were only 3 packages available. I went with pioneer pkg # 3, in Mill Sil. in July. I drove my 2002 Prius from Texas to Carson Ca on Nov 12 to pickup my baby the next day. It sure was a nice drive back even though I had to keep it under 60 mph. A month longer wait than the 2002 I got (which was not the one ordered, dealer said would get here late DEC 2001 or Feb 2002, I took the rejected one on OCt 12).

Carson Toyota in the LA Region was a lot nicer to deal with than Gulf States Toyota here in Texas.. IMHO. Even though I had to drive over 2600 miles...and yes I would do it again...

For those not in the know pioneer pkg 3 = BC = current package 9. most of all the bells and toys.

Yes got the car that we

ordered on Saturday November the 8th and it arrived at the dealer on the the 14th but we couldn't take possesion till the 22nd as the dealer had a few people interested in the 2K4's and needed it for viewing. It's the Canadain B model and we traded in a 2K1 Prius. As per usual we knew more than the dealer about the cars. Price was as per the deal we worked out and not one cent more or less. Didn't try and upsell us on any dealer installed options, undercoating or anything else. It was in the color we orded. Silver same as the Classic.

#4 (AG) Exactly what I wanted...

My budget was $22k. Total was $21,829. My package ordered on Sept. 12 was delivered Nov. 24. Exactly like I wanted it with no "extra" options except floor mats.

I ordered a package #1 (rear wiper only) 11/21/03 and got my car on 1/17/04. Only extra was floor mats. I requested silver or tideland and got silver. Town Toyota in East Wenatchee Washington did not play any games with add ons that I have read about in other posts. I think it is harder to get a base car than the loaded version. I may have just gotten lucky. Salesman was Brent Crowder, I recommend him highly if you are looking to place an order in E. WA. Still have his card on my desk, 509-888-9892. If you do talk to Brent, tell him John Peterson sent you.

    Orders

When I first talked to my dealer here in Missouri, he said they could only order (a)stripped cars, (b)loaded without nav. and © loaded with nav.

I don't know if they are still under that order but I do know they aren't getting all the cars they are allocated.

Weird. In the US they give you all these option packages... and then don't let you have them. :p

In Canada, there's just the base model and one option package (with most of the good stuff but no nav).

    Canadian models

    Base model
    same as the US.

B package includes the following items as near as I can decipher from the invoice.
    VSC
    auto headlights........... no HID option
chromatic rear view mirror with garage door opener
    Side curtian air bags
    JBL audio upgrade
    Alarm system
    Fog lamps
    Smart entry
    Rear wiper

and believe it or not, we up here, finally get heated outside rearview mirrors. Like I guess it's warmer here than down south. Go figure on that one.
