Best MPG yet!!!

Wow. Over 61mpg. That beats the EPA. I'm impressed. I have not had a tank over 50mgp yet. Actually I had one indicated on the MDF , but the calculated was only 43. I would love to get a 50/50 sometime soon. Maybe now that the weather is warming up, though , honestly, I have babied it for the first 1200 miles, and I am sick of doing that. I think I am going to start going 70-75 on the interstates again, rather than 55-65, so I may never see 50mpg. Oh well ........

Keep in mind the indicated is probably much closer than the calculated for individual tank comparisons. When gassing up the fills are so inconsistent the calculated numbers are pretty close to meaningless. After 5k I did an overall calculated avg. mpg versus the overall MFD average and they are pretty close. On my car the MFD is about 2% optomistic (actually 1.96%). I'm still keeping track of all fuel usage and will compare to the MFD every few thousand miles, but have given up on individual tank calcs.

So far I'm in the same boat as you, just one tank over 50 (barely). I drive the car pretty hard and have averaged just over 45 for the life of it. As far as I'm concerned that's awesome.

 

I just filled up for the first time, 465 miles, and an absolute struggle to force in 8.8 gallons. That's over 52 mpg. I've just discovered today how to do the pulse and glide. A very nice and interesting technology.

Way to go! It is pretty exciting to go past the 60 mpg mark. Just more proof that the car is capable of the EPA estimates. Keep it up!

My overall average is 45 with my lowest being 40 and highest just over 50. To me the what matters is how much fuel I consume. A reliable measure of that is how much fuel I purchase. It does seem however that I drive the Prius more efficiently the longer I drive the car, presently 11 months. Have driven with a lead foot for decades, it is taking me a long to learn to to ease up on the accelerator to glide, coast, or simply let the electric motor move the car.

 

Welcome to the 60 MPG achievers!!! With your great start, you should have many more.
I have similar results from my fill-up today:
533 miles using 8.477 gallons and thus 62.88 MPG
Now at 13K and lifetime MPG is 61.14
