Prius Three 2015 vs Honda Civic Hybrid 2015

We own a 2012 Civic (gas, not a hybrid) and a 2013 Prius and I have owned many Honda for 13 years. The Prius is better than the Civic, case closed. My first choice is Honda but their hybrids are no where as mature as Toyota's. I would not choose a Corolla or Camry over the Civic or Accord when selecting a gas only vehicle. When it comes to hybrids its really not a competition. No other company can claim the total (since inception) number of reliable and economical hybrid miles.

I was pretty excited about the new Accord hybrid but it looks like it will enjoy a lackluster life like their other hybrids. Toyota is hybrids, Honda is just me too.

 

I've loved my Honda vehicles.

My Honda Fit was a great hatch-back.
Before that the 90's Accord I owned was like an automotive zombie, it just kept going and going...

In general I think Honda makes comfortable vehicles that are fun to drive. Great interior ergonomics.

BUT...I just don't think Honda's hybrids measure up to Toyota's offerings. So if you want a Hybrid, I think Toyota is still the first choice.

I think in 2010...I really wanted The Insight to be better. But when I compared the two? It really wasn't very close. HSD and Prius beat IMA and Insight fairly easily IMO.

 

I think the word is quality. Honda MIJ was the best car on the road way back when. The Toyota MIJs are the highest quality for price on the road. Had two Mercedes and the Prius build is phenomenal.

tempted with a leaf if they ever get the range tweaked up a bit.

Though they don't cover the newest civic hybrids, this should give you a very good idea of how reliable prius is.
