Anything else to replace along with struts?

    After reading up on things to do for maintenance, I've decided to replace my struts around the 95k mile mark.

    While I'm down there, is there anything else I should replace/do while the wheels and struts are off?

    I've read some people talk about replacing CV joints as a preventative measure, others about bushings but most seem content with just the struts.

    While doing the rear struts I'm definitely going to be cleaning the battery blower. I'm also going to replace the strut mounts/boots/insulators (unless someone advises me otherwise, those mounts can be quite pricey!). Is there anything I missed?

    Regarding the front struts, at minimum replace the top insulators/boots and the strut mounts. The other parts are at your discretion.

    Regarding the rear shocks, replacement of the associated parts is at your discretion.

    Has anyone replaced the CV joint/bushings and if so at what mile? Am I overthinking a routine job here?

    Also a heads up for others who are thinking of doing this, Rockauto has a $40 KYB rebate for buying 4 struts/shocks.

    There is no reason to replace the half shafts (which include the CV joints) unless the joints are demonstrating a problem. My 2004 has logged 190K miles and the original half shafts show no signs of wear.

    If you notice a problem with other suspension parts as you are replacing the struts/shocks then you can deal with that issue at that time. Since your car has less than 100K miles the parts are probably OK.
