    is this the one recalled to lower your mpg's?

    This was for the recall on the inverter, didn't affect my mpg or anything else. I have read here somewhere that the recall is a two step process and if not completed properly there were some ill affects, maybe you can have yours done over again although I think you've already made up your mind that you need to get rid of the Prius.

    exactly. looking at a suburban and tahoe now, trying to figure out how low gas prices are going.

    Gasoline prices are going up. The politics is cyclical, but the trend is that the price of oil is always go up.

    but in the grand scheme of things, when i started driving in 1970, gas was 30 cents a gallon. how does that figure with inflation? and in '74, they told us we were running out of oil.

    yes, oil domestically produced in continental USA by conventional methods (fracking was unknown then, LOL).
