    Hi
I expect to get delivery of my Silver Pacakage BC9 and was wondering if the Compass in the mirror is included. Please advise. I know the Nav. system has a compass but I would like to see the direction in the Mirror.
    Thanks, billyb

Note that there is a North pointer on the Nav map. By touching the pointer, you can switch between having the map oriented with North at the top or with the current direction always pointing up and the map pointer effectively working as a compass.

On the Information and Climate screen, the measured outside temperature is displayed.

You can switch the nav from map mode to compass mode as well.

I think both Wal-Mart and K-mart sell a little gadget that fits over the corner of the mirror that mimics the electronic compass that isn't included on the Prius. I don't remember what it cost, but it wasn't exhorbitant.

The After Market Mirror is apparently different from the one that comes standard on the #9.

The After Market - (Non #9) Mirror has the following text.

Improve your driving comfort with an Auto-dimming Mirror, built-in sensors detect headlight glare and automatically dim the mirror to reduce eyestrain. The digital compass provides directional information at your fingertips. Outside temperature feature is available on certain models. See a Toyota Parts Professional for more information.

I suspect if it was wrong they'd correct it eventually, hehe.

Since the #9 already has a compass and temperature readout, they probably saved a bit by not putting that redundant mirror on.

Besides, if the Mirror and the MFD disagreed on something, people would keep bringing it back for service. People are funny that way.

Better to have one display even if it's wrong.

I've just recently replaced my standard mirror (non-homelink, non-autodim) with a compass/autodim mirror from an 03 Camry! I got it from ebay for $76 and it works great. I used the installation instructions for the Homelink mirror to find power (ACC) and ground. http://www.vfaq.net/mods/ECMirror.html. Looks great, works perfect. Just ever-so-slightly longer than the standard mirror, yet no sun visor issues. Took me under an hour. I'll try to post some pics later. Any other questions just ask. This is the third accessory I've installed myself (mudflaps and oil drain valve). Drive fun, drive clean, drive Prius!

aforkosh mentioned that the temperature screen shows the outside temp. My wife's Buick Regal does the same time. But from time to time I want to know what the internal temperature is. The way I see it, there much be a thermostat that the A/C system is using to analyse the internal temp. Does it display?
