We ordered Seaside Pearl Pkg #2 on 11/17/03 from dealership on Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX. I'm curious if anyone out there either in the Gulf region or across the US has been waiting longer than we have. We found a dealer in Conroe that had a Salsa Red #4 but they were asking $5000 over sticker.

We've been waiting since 11/7/03. Dealer is on the Katy (I10) Freeyway. Seems like allocations are "slow" per dealer. He claims we're at the top of the list, but they recieved no cars at the last allocation.

Start checking out the dealers outside of Houston. From what I can tell Houston is not getting a very big allocation. I placed an order in August 2003 and when I didn't hear about anything until March, I went ahead and abandoned that dealer and went searching elsewhere. You might try some dealers in Austin or San Antonio. At least get on the internet and start emailed all the dealers around here and ask about their Prius. When I did that I got on several email lists and the dealers emailed me when they got a Prius in. Good Luck!

Believe me, you're not alone! There's plenty of folks who have been waiting as long as you. The advice used to be that you could snag a Prius by calling many dealers, especially in the hinterlands, but it seems that those days are drawing rapidly to a close as demand for this car spirals ever higher.
The gold standard these days seems to be to find a dealer with good ethics, one who will put you in line for a car at MSRP and not divert cars to buyers who come in off the street with fat wallets. If you're confident that your local dealer fits the above description, stick with him. You may have to wait awhile longer, but you'll get your car.

Friends in Houston, for what it's worth, when my wife and I placed our Prius order on May 11th at Cavender Toyota here in San Antonio, our salesman said we were about 80 on the waiting list. Their monthly allocation was between 3 to 8 units. The situation was about the same at other local dealers. We placed our order at Cavender because they actually had a Prius we could test drive. We are definitely in it for the "long haul."
    Good luck.

Small town dealers around Houston are not doing much better.

I placed an order at Kinsel Toyota in Beaumont on December 19, 2003; and I am also still waiting. When I started in December, I was # 4 on the list, in February I was # 2; however in late May I was still # 2. I haven’t called again, because I only get more depressed as time goes on and no movement is apparent. To make matters worse my dealer has never called me once (I have had to call him each time) and I have never received any letters or confirmations from Toyota that I have even been placed into their order database.

Basically all that you can do is to keep your head up and keep hoping.

Your all getting srewed by your dealer!

I preordered by in dec 03 through fleet dept but still on car!!!!!
But if I call the same dealer and talk to any sales rep tell him I'm looking for an 04 prius, I get a phone call in less the a week telling me he has one coming in but that it will be 2.5k over MSRP at another dealership the same but 5k over. Call the fleet guy tell him whats going on no return phone calls. They dealers are taking advantage of the market! which is okay but take care of the people who order and dont satrafice them in the process of making a few extra bucks. I think all the people who preorder and are getting screw should open a complaint topic and share info and call corprate with all the problems! One person doesn't get heard but if we all call the same contact with the same complaint and post reponses some one is bound to listen!

A friend of my wife and I ordered her Prius at the same time we ordered our second Prius (mine is a '03) 11/22/03 and she is getting hers this coming Tuesday. We expect to see ours mid July. . . maybe sooner if the only ones that are being shipped are fully 'tricked out' there are a couple of people in front of us but they ordered package 3 not 9.

Contacted eealer - still no word. Maybe we'll hear something next week.

At least there's no sign (yet) that the dealer will pull what was done to bigbaldcuban up in Dallas.

    Hope springs eternal.

I ordered a #9 Tideland Pearl on October 13, 03, Columbus Day, and received notice on June 11, 04 that it was arriving at the dealership. Unfortunately, the car that was arriving was black, so I passed (I work in the San Fernando Valley and have no covered parking at work, it often gets well over a 100 degrees here in the summer time).

I then told my broker that I'd rather wait for the 2005 model year due to depreciation factors. It will be a year, or more, since my order before I get the car of my choice (I will compromise on colors but will not accept black, white or Driftwood).

    Yahoooooo

Just got word from dealer and car is allocated.

Expected arrival data is August 10th.

That will make almost precisely a 10 month wait.

    my wait will be over...

    I ordered on Nov 1, 2003.

My car is due to be picked up tomorrow, 265 days later!

Hope everything goes smoothly. Wasn't going to post until it was a done deal.

Car will be a tideland pearl #9

Passed up 2 cars, 1 wrong pkg and color, 1 wrong color.

In hindsight, I should have chosen a different dealer and searched high and wide to get the car before December before my State tax credits expired.

It's still not here! Spoke to the dealer--said the next round of allocations is in 2 1/2-3 weeks.

Anybody been waiting longer than 11-17-03?

    I've waited since 9/03

    Atlanta is the absolute worst.

And the sales people aren't helpful b/c they've got 100 people behind you who would take the car.
