Easy thing to add if one can deal with it not being in a recessed position.First gen yaris/xd map lights mount very flush and can be easily wired to your front stock dome/map lights

    Not the point.
It also would be a very easy and cheap fix for TOYOTA to do........and they should.

They obviously don't see it as a priority for a car of this size. Would you go out and buy it again if they did JUST that? Probably not right? Make your car more enjoyable vs complaining about their lack of fulfilling a limited need.

That is not the right way to ask the question.

Would I still buy another C if the new models still do not have a light back there ?
    NO, I probably wouldnt'.
And I won't be buying the other Prii either if they still have that ridiculous reverse beeping inside the car.

I can pretty much afford any car I want and will NOT put up with gross stupidity.

Two tiny "flaws" in great cars and that will stop you. Newsflash EVERY car is a compromise. These are two very small issues. All I can say is BOTH of the issues you just listed can be VERY easily remedied.

Abso-f'ing-lutely. And the car maker should DO it.

Not having a light for the back seat of a 4 door car is just stupid and inexcusable.
Having a beeper inside the car that sounds all the time you are in reverse is just stupid and inexcusable.

I like that different models have different features so there is choice.
I contend, however, that NOBODY says "No I don't want a light in the back seat" or "Yes, I want a beeper going off the whole time in reverse."
Nobody, nowhere, no how. Those things should be fixed.

Many cars have aural indicators while in reverse... more 4 door cars than just the prius c are available without a light for the back seat.

    Really ?
    In the US ?
    Inside the car ??
I shuttled cars for a rental car company for about 8 years and NEVER SAW A SINGLE ONE.

That is not to say that there aren't some now but that was only a couple of years ago.
And I drove quite a few when car shopping too, including several different model Toyota's and none of them had it either.
    Neither does my '13 C.
If it is such a good thing, why isn't it a standard feature on ALL the Toyota models ???

Never did I say it was "such a good thing" of the least three rentals I had, all with backup camera had a sound when placed into reverse.

Maybe that is a factor......the backup camera that is.
Come to think of it, my Fusion might sound the warning beep once when going into reverse. I've never noticed.

I bet none of them were set to continuously beep all the time it was in R though.

I don't have any beep in my C.
I gave as an example of terrible feature engineering in the models that DO have it.

I hate to say it but you're one of, if not the only person I've come across that feels so strongly about it. And I work 40+ events a year as a Toyota product specialist. Most of which will have a hybrid or three on display. Good travels in search of a compatible vehicle for your next purchase.

Do YOU think it was a wise call to make the default for the backup beeper INSIDE THE CAR to be "constantly beeping as long as the car is in reverse" ?

And that only SOME models are equipped that way ??

And that it appears to have been that way for SEVERAL YEARS now ??

I have less than ZERO tolerance for corporate stupidity. Especially when fixing it would be a trivial matter AND would be universally applauded by the owners.

So, please tell me, if you work for Toyota, have you brought any of the common complaints heard on here to the attention of anybody who can do something about it ?? If not, why not ??

In talking to 10's of thousands of people a year (for over10 years) no one has ever had any such hatred towards it as you have. Why only on some models and not on all? I couldn't tell you. Often times something available on a new model will become available on future generations of other models. Sometimes it goes away or only stays with certain models.

No one has EVER had as big of an issue with this MINOR annoyance as you have. I'm genuinely sorry it bothers you so much bit it apparently doesn't seem to bother many if anyone else. And as posted above is EASILY deactivated for those who take opposition. I don't deal with the designers of the cars at all. And have only met a few chief engineers after a product launch.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the reason it continually beeps on the prius liftback is because of owners and general public alike "scared" of the silent killers these cars can be in the hands of distracted drivers. Especially when backing out of driveways and parking places. Why not in the Prius C you may ask? Cheaper car. Many items standard or available in Prius liftback just plain aren't in the Prius C.

I can take an educated guess as to why it's in the Prius/Prius v and not the Prius c. It's because the c has a regular transmission layout. The Prius/Prius v have electronic shifters so other than the blinking box over the "R", there's no other way to tell the Prius is in reverse by the shifter's position. In addition, you can turn off the beep (Gen 2) or reduce the beep to just a single beep so I don't see why it's an issue. The option is there for the owner to change it.

Toyota also offers it in their 6-spd manual cars. The Corolla XRS had a reverse beep too because R was next to 1. Yes, you had to lift the ring up to go into R but things happen (like absentmindedness).
