What did you do to ur Gen III Prius today????

Yes, the rubber undercoating does help. I combined the spray on and brush on tar-like kind to the inner part/factory coating of the wells to as far I can reach up the spring wells...
The real noise culprit I think are the factory tires and those plastic panels so... Btw, I also got me some rubberized rocker panel spray ons for additional protection and soundproofing.
Meanwhile... today I did two coats on the wheel well plastic linings and two more coats of the brush on tomorrow. Total four coats for the plastics, three thick coats using the brush on. I want to get my interior down to a target 50db which right now averages 53-60 depending on the road.

 

With all these similar color/trim Prii out there, I had to do something more to make mine more unique. I had the those caps on for a few weeks, but finally got around to painting them and doing something truly custom. Plus, got Weathertech floor mats, a must for living near the coast and dealing with sand, lots and lots of sand.

Next, got some LEDs on the way for the interior. White for the map lights, and green for everything else.

 

Any mod ideas about the sunglasses holder? I would like to covert it to something useful.

 

This is something that I've thought about a lot. I have a couple of ideas.
I've considered fabricating a mount for my phone -- it would be cool to see the live traffic map there.
If you open up a port at the front, could a radar detector be mounted here?

 

Been thinking about it aswell. But it blocks the rear view mirror if you mount that radar detector

 

My G's front end finally arrived last week.
Before I take it to the body shop for a paint job I wanted to do a dry fit to be 100% certain that it's going to bolt on correctly.



It fits perfectly. All of the fastener holes lined up beautifully.

 

... and while I had the front-end off, I decided to try my hand at repairing my thrashed skid plate.



I went at it with my soldering iron and "welded" the mounting posts back on.





Here's it is all bolted back in.



I need to take it easy on those steep driveways.

I didn't want to spoil the party with my negativity, unless someone asked.

1. The FM radio reception sucks. I can unplug the antenna and it is equally bad. I even tried cracking the case and double checking the solder joints for the antenna jack.
2. MP3 playback stops when you're running the navigation app. It will continue playing whatever MP3 was playing when you fire up the navigation. But when that MP3 is done it will not continue playing.
3. The night mode is too bright. Although this is adjustable in the settings, the #0 setting is totally dark, and the #1 setting is a bit to bright for my taste.

On the positive side, my favorite features:

1. Random MP3 playback is much more random than the OEM stereo.
2. Displays embedded MP3 album art images.
3. Able to display non-English characters for MP3 ID3 tags (i.e. Japanese)
4. It has navigation (a big plus if you didn't have OEM navigation)
5. 8" touch screen
6. OEM appearance (doesn't look like a generic 2 DIN with an adapter bezel)

Im new to this form but I have a 2013 black prius II. So far I plasti dipped all my emblems and took out the hub caps that shows the hidden black rims. Tinted my windows to 5 in the back and 50 in the front. Finally put a ninja decal and plushie inside my car

 

your sneaky! You didn't even mention the one underneath the car! hehe.
