2006 Power Outlet Addition

Once you take the small plastic retainer on the right side you simple pull the bottom plate off. It comes off in one piece. You can read detailed descriptions with Sparky's Replacement Speaker Guide or other guides that walk you taking the dash apart, like installing an XM Radio.

It really comes off quite easily.

Ditto... Had mine off this weekend. Center armrest console also comes off easily.



Two screws under "carpet" on bottom rear of the bin. The front section of the bin, the part with the cupholders, comes off by pulling the bottom forward and upward releasing four clips. Two screws are exposed when removed. The console lifts off easily (remember to disconnect wires).

And yes - that cover comes off easier than anything else on the car. Pull the one plastic retainer near the existing outlet, and the rest just pulls off easily. Sometimes TOO Easily!

 

I posted these pics in another thread in this forum, but it deserves reposting.

You do not have to splice into a harness to get power. Buy a mini-fuse add-a-cicuit form your auto parts supplier, put a "dummy" 2AS fuse in the main block, put a 10A or 15A fuse in the "add-on" circuit, and hardwire the outlet(s) you want to add.

FYI, get the 12V outlets from Radio Shack. They're OEM looking, have nice rubber caps, and easy wiring (with in-line fuse if you want to use).
