My 2007 Prius (JBL and NAV) has a AM-SAT button but there is no satellite receiver. I would like to add xm to the MFD because it would be very clean but I don't want to spend $300 to do it.

I researched a lot and many posts refer to the TOY-SC1/SCC1 combo. I cannot find this combo for sale anywhere. Seems the TOY-SC1 might be discontinued.

Any suggestions on adding factory XM to my '07?

Wow, 65 views and no one has any updated info on installing XM radio to the MFD?

    Thanks in advance.

I went online at the first of the year to see if the price of the XM radio receivers had dropped at all. I contacted a friend of mine to see if could get these parts for cheaper. His words were if I could get this for under $300 buy it. Well, long story short, I did.

I found a used XM Receiver for $100.00 and found a Toyota dealer that was "getting rid of extra parts" and got the fit kit for $18.00.
I installed my unit in an afternoon, the hardest part was plugging the long wire into the back of the radio. It took right off and worked well from the beginning.

The only quirk I can find is if you initialize the bluetooth on your phone while the radio is on, the sound on some station sound "distant", meaning you can hear something but it is not recognizable. Plus, in the hidden menu that you access but lights on and off 3 times while holding the "info" button, now shows XM at the bottom of the screen in the diagnostic screen.

The XM radio sounds so much better with the factory amps in play. I have had zero problems since installation. Don't be afraid, you can do it. Sincerely, JanTheMan

Looking at this aftermarket xm kit that is said to interface direct to my 2007 prius factory radio and work with my AM-SAT button.

Looks like it should work. The worst part of the whole installation, at least for me, was the plug that went into the back of the radio. You can feel the opening, it should work, but you can't see it at all. The factory numbers -

    Tuner Assy Kit Contents (86180-0W030)

    Mounting Kit Contents (PT546-47060)

    2006 - XM SATELLITE RADIO

You do have to remove the rear seat cushion, and you do have to drill two small holes to mount the tuner to the seat cushion "hold ups". Shop around the 'net, I used genuine Toyota parts. The results are remarkable.

One other note: I put my antenna on the outside of the vehicle. The wires for it were ran down and into all the available gaps and seams for an invisible installation. Two plugs on the tuner assy and it is idiot proof. Wiring runs up the passenger side of the car. Remove the glove box, pull the vent/dash assy and one screw that holds a multi-point junction block. The kit comes with lots of wire ties ( or you can get your own). It took me about two and a half hours with one break to let the dogs out on a nice day in March.

The AM radio button doubles as the SAT button. Then, there are three SAT screens to save eighteen stations. The text button will only give ten letters or digits ( No complete name or song name, there are "kits" available to get more letters if you like). Beware and be careful how you spent you money. Aftermarket can be nice, but do your research. The engineers at Toyota did all their stuff, which makes this install worthy. JanTheMan. P.S. I have the install pdf I can upload, if you like. Let me know.JTM

My XM receiver came from a 2009 Camry that had crash in Texas. Airline Parts had it for $150, I offered $110 on eBay and they took my offer.
My fit kit came from Nevada. The man wants $25, I offered $18 and he took it. It pays to shop around, at the height of the 2nd Gen Prius frenzy, those two kits would have cost in excess of $400.00 !
I took my time, did not pinch any wires and the sound it tremendous. It was worth it. A call to XM customer service and it was up and running within 15 mins of my call. XM customer service does not mess around. JTM

Used is fine but I won't get wiring harnesses that way. If I buy the kits new then I'm looking at more then $300.

So its totally up to you. Do check out EBay. If used is fine, just be sure to get a thirty day warranty. The XM receiver I got looked like new.
Use the part numbers and shop. About 10 per cent of all dealerships in the US are either in audit, receivership or have just been sold. Patience is rough, if you want it now you got to pay up.
But if you can wait you can get it for less than what they paid for it.
I do not care for aftermarket parts. I had a Delphi Skymate 2 that used the acc plug and hung from the AC vent. It worked fine but it looked funky hanging on the vent.
With everything integrated into the car it looks good again. JS

How did you get your wire harness when you bought used parts?

The wiring harness that I got was NOS or new old stock. Original price was $449.00
    I got it for $18.00
But I have seen the fit kit which includes the harness on EBay.
Honestly, I think they must use the same harness for many cars. The radio head unit is made by Pioneer. The harness is a twelve pin plug which is more or less a long extension cord to the XM receiver.
The factory wanted to have the antenna on the dash, over on the pass corner. I read many complaints that were eliminated by moving it to the roof. JS

My XM radio is still working fine. I still love the sound and the ease of changing stations with a push of the button on the steering wheel.
