I have a 2015 Plug in Winter Grey. The back panel where the Toyota emblem is on is silver and I want to black it out. I have matte black vinyl to cover it with but I heard someone say that the silver is just a covering that can be peeled off to reveal the Grey color which the non Plug in version uses.

Has anyone tried to peel this off by chance?

    Thanks!

I doubt that that panel has a peel off covering and I suspect that the matte black vinyl might make you wish you hadn't in a few years. If you insist, do it right and get a body shop to paint it.

I doubt that there is paint underneath. Paint needs primer under it and what you are talking about underneath is likely the primer.
