i am new to this forum and own a 2007
the problem i noticed was that while driving, the AC. was on and suddenly the fan speed dropped and the horns sound also became dim. this was hust like experiencing a loss in power as happens when the voltage drops and the machinery slows down
this persisted for a few minutes to recover back to normal automatically.
this happened a couple of times and then the master warning light and check engine light came on
a couple of weeks back the radiator fan motor dysfunctioned and had to be replaced
i am really concerned as to what is wrong as none of the mechanics have been able to satisfy me with a diagnosis
i shall be grateful for help

I haven't been having any problems. So haven't had it checked
But if that would have been the problem wouldn't it be persistent? I mean the power would stay low

I checked the 12 volt battery with the diagnostic mode. The starting voltage was 11.8. On Acc it went down to 11.4 and then came up to 11.7. On start it came to 14.1
I hope I can get some guidance

You need a new 12 volt battery.
The Toyota battery has a 84 month warranty or there are aftermarket prius spacific batteries.

While I agree with Bisco and Jimbo, that your 12 V battery is in a poor state of health and needs replacement, (and you should replace as it can spoof DTC's that are bogus) I don't believe it is the cause of your AC fan problems. However, it may clear the problems, in which case, job done.

If not, you need to read the DTC's that have been logged as evidenced by the master warning light and check engine light coming on.

Until you do that you are just groping in the dark, as are we.

Please replace your 12 V battery before doing anything else. In the process most current DTC's will be reset, so after that you can see if you still have any lights illuminated on your dash. Then look at retrieving DTC's if you still have warning light on the dash.

The easiest way is to take your car to a Toyota service department and ask (pay) them to do a diagnostic, which should give you a report of the DTC's if any have been logged by the car.

If you would like to be able to do this yourself, see this post for good information on how to get self-sufficient. The information about the TIS service probably is of no use to you in your region. There may be an equivalent for your area.

hope this helps (Hope That Helps)
