    Newfoundland does not have rebates for the car but oddly enough under a provincial green fund (limited size and limited time) was able to get a $500 rebate on charger / installation

    Stupid question, but does your Gen III Prius or PiP have a slight delay for outputting spray from the driver's side windshield spray nozzle? On mine if I haven't used the sprayer in a little while, the next time I use it, it starts with the passenger side sprayer and then 1-2 seconds later it starts on the driver's side. It's a very minor issue (or a non-issue), but I actually had the dealer check it out and they saw no obstruction. I'm thinking now that it's probably just a longer distance to the driver's side sprayer and if you haven't used it a while, the hoses drain out, so it takes a second or two longer to travel that length of the hose. If you've used it recently though, then there is already fluid in the hose so there is no delay. However, this was not an issue in my Gen II.

    Also, I haven't read all of the manual yet. I've read about a third of it so far. How are the EV distance calculations on EV calculated? Is it a combination of previous use, outside temperature, and AC/heat settings?

    When I got the car it said 17.1 km the first charge, on a coolish day at the end of February. Then after I drove it for a while, it would say ~15.4 km. Now that it is warming up (and I've hit well over 16 km several times), it is usually saying around 16.6 km.

    ev estimate is a trade toyota secret.;) i just find mine going up as the weather warms, and going down as it cools, fairly linear. right now i'm at 15.0 miles after a low in february of 11.7 iirc.

    Hmmm... I've never hit anywhere near 15 miles. Max is a little over 11 miles, and that's with current weather. I'm in Toronto, so my city type driving and the weather may be similar to yours in Boston. Mind you, my commute is through the city, so lots of stops at traffic lights.

    well, the topography may be similar, but the 'type of driving' is in the right foot, and mine came from my granny.:p i got 18 miles my first year, but it's dropped to around 16. that's just cruising around at 30 mph or so. when i do my commute and have to keep up with traffic, i only get 14 or so. it's still a pretty easy drive.

    You will see higher numbers in (your first) summer.
    But remember, the EV number you see is only an estimate, it is quite good estimate for repeating trips like commutes.
    You can "game" the number, example:
    A trip of say 18 miles includes two hilly sections, if you manually change to HV before the first climb while you still have EV miles and then return to EV mode at the downhill section, the energy accumulated in the descent are added to the EV miles. Do the same for the second hill and for the whole trip you have traveled longer EV distance than usual.
    Next charge will show considerably higher number as an estimate, reflecting your recent history, but will be unrealistically high for your regular commute.

    My driver's side washer is weak. It will be a dry spray if I haven't used it in a while and if the fluid level is low, it may not even make it to the windshield at eye level and simply just spray over the lower bit of the windshield and all over the wiper arm.

    This is in comparison to the Gen 2 Prius which has a really good washer spray. (By good I mean both pattern and power. It's a 3 nozzle design compared to the Gen 3's flat/wide spray design).

    So, I'm not the only one then. Yeah, my Gen 2 was much better at this.

    I guess you could say we're nitpicking, but you'd figure this kind of thing would always be done right after all these decades...

    Possibly but if they switched suppliers and the design isn't up to snuff, Toyota should know about it so that they can improve it for the next gen. (I'm still waiting for the low washer fluid light. Really, a floating buoy with a wireless transmitter. How expensive is it?).

    The rear washer is also weaker in the Gen 3.

    Windscreen washers on a previous car did the same. I cured it by adding an in-line non-return valve (from my local car accessories shop) just after the pump to stop the fluid draining back into the bottle.
