I should probably wait till its 100%, but its 95% done. I was bummed jt wasn't making the faceplate anymore but I used my dremel on the scosche kit and its working out well. One thing I like is I was able to make the radio sit further out so its not so sunk in the dash. Thanks to the op for this post. Since I was able to obtain a corolla radio free, its been a great mod.
Again, thanks to jt and other contributors, this is an awesome thread. I am now getting ready to wire rear speakers in my c1 and am wondering if anyone knows what the single white wire in the harness where the rear speakers would hook up is?
Thank kingnba6, thats what I thought was said but I think yesterday when I left it unplugged the radio still dimmed. Hmmm. Since I don't want it to dim I would like to not hook it up. When I pull the dash apart again to wire the tears I'll have to check it out again.
Well theres two "dimmer" wires. I believe the white wire is to adjust the level of dimming with the original dial on the left side of the steering wheel. The main dimming wire is still connected on the big harness; it is the light green wire.
When I didn't hook up the white wire I got no illumination for the buttons that have illumination. Not just no dimmer function. Maybe if you just ground the white wire you get constant illumination with the lights on. Looks like the lt green wire is + and the white wire is ground (probably through a rheostat). The main screen will dim regardless of hooking up the white wire. It is only for the buttons that have lettering. iPhone ?
Thank you. I want to stop the radio from dimming at all. Its an at night, but when you turn the lights on during the day (like when raining) I don't want it dim. Was thinking about seeing if a switch on the green illumination wire on the larger harness will work.
It worked like a charm. Hooked up both dinner wires but put a switch on the green one in the larger harness with the front speaker wires. Now my radio dims when I turn the lights on, and the backlit lights come on, hit the switch and it undims like the lights are off! Thanks.
