To all the silver Prius owners - what made you pick silver?
I ask because I got a silver one...not because I wanted silver, but because the deal sounded pretty good to bite on. BUT now that I own a silver Prius, I've quickly embraced my new child. That would have been horrible if I brought the bastard home and immediately hated it or regretted the purchase even more because it's silver. Thankfully that didn't happen...

anyways, this could be a stupid question...

I buy silver cars because, in my opinion, they always look clean even when they're dirty. I've had two silver Prius.

Honestly, I happen to like it.

Of all the colors Toyota offered, black would have been nice, but it'd show dirt easily and likely be real hot in summer. White would likewise always look dirty...gotta be a city dweller to keep it looking nice.

Tan hides dirt better, but I'm not a fan of tan. The other colors didn't really move me.

Silver was better than tan, not quite white or black...really more of a metallic gray.

Only regret was not going for a darker interior. I went with gray...should have gone with black. Gray shows scuffs too easily.

My 2008 was classic silver and my 2011 is too. I didn't pick them that way, just got lucky in my previously owned selection. I like it for the cleanliness as previously mentioned. I don't have a lot of time to be scrubbing my car. I also like the look, which reminds me of something CNC'ed out of billet aluminum.

It makes it a Prius. I'll bet 60 % of Prius are classic silver? H

Silver was not our first choice. We kinda had our sights set on white, but: Prius doesn't exactly come in white, it comes in pearl white, and there were none in stock. And when walking around the lot, we stumbled on:

    Prius - Fuelly Icon.jpg

(This is after they'd dug it out of the back, cleaned it up.)

And yeah: good at not showing the dirt, very neutral, pretty good visibility (to other cars). The touch up paint works PERFECTLY for touching up rim rash too.

I like silver cars, however my first option for a Prius was blue, but when I went to the dealership the blue one was not available so I picked the silver one and I traded my silver Subaru.

    Hey! same as mine.

At the time I bought my 2010 Prius (July 09), silver was still the most popular color according to surveys, I bought that color because I live 3 miles down a gravel road, and in my opinion, that silver color allows it to be dusty and still look cleaner.

I see now that white is the most popular car color, so will my next one need to be white ??? :)

I bought my 2010 silver Prius in April. Used. So didn't really have a choice, but I liked it from the start. I'd like to see what others have done to their silver Prius as far as tinting, etc goes. I'm getting the urge to make my silver stand out!

We just happened to pick up our brand new classic silver Prius today from the dealership.

My original preference was naval blue, but then the sales rep told me it was not available, not in the whole province of Ontario. My second choice was black, but my wife hated it. My daughter liked red, but again it was not available. My wife liked the classic silver for its low maintenance. I didn't like it. Silver cars are all over the roads. At the end, we met in the middle between black and classic silver and settled in the dark grey. There was one available in the entire province, according to the sales person. We signed the deal.

Then the next day, the sales person called and told me that the vehicle had a scratch, and there was only a classic silver left. I had no choice. My wife won. Well, if she is happy, I am happy. Now I just need to get used to the colour.

Silver is cool. Whether it's true or not I don't know, but silver looks great and seems to reflect the heat away during the summer sunshine.

I traded my black prius for my silver prius five. Blizzard pearl was my choice of color but i was a tad late so i found a classic silver one and the more i look at it I found out i like it more than 20140712_085811.jpg the pearl color. The silver 17"wheels really go well with test if the car. It was a blessing in disguise for me.

Silver was my first choice of all the colors. I wanted a light color to help with heat in the summers here in the south, and as others have said, keeps looking good even with a little dirt. Oh, my screen name is "Whiteyprius" because my first Prius (2008) was white.

It's true, and the reason I chose silver. White, as we all know, was an extra-cost option, so silver it was.

The silver prius with the 17" wheels does look really sharp.

Yup, the colour's a perfect match. I can use the body color touch up pen on them. Our's is Canadian "Touring", similar to US 2010 V model, but without high-tech stuff, like radar cruise for example.

Quick question...what benefit is there to the larger wheels compared to the standard sized wheels? I don't see much as far as increased ground clearance.

They're for looks and maybe cornering. We switch over to 195/75R15 snows every winter, and the feel doesn't really change, just cushier. The steering setup on these IS different, too.

I'm clueless about handling tho, and definitely don't push the limits, lol. Mainly we didn't like the alloys with wheel covers, at time of purchase.

The o.d. of 21545R17 is a little less, go figure.

It's pretty much certain there's a negative impact on mpg. Not too serious.
