Great, everything I need except the one I actually subscribe to, Spotify.

This time they're asking for access to just about everything on the user's Android. I just won't put up with that; fortunately it's useless to me anyway.

I just updated my phone to Lollipop (Android 5.0.1) and was shocked to get a notification from Entune upon receiving an email using the Android native email app. Indeed, Entune read the message (and headers) aloud, and I could look back and select older emails.

This is in addition to the SMS/Text notification/reading that was already working.

    I love this stuff! :)

So they are finally catching up to what my Blackberry had three years ago! It even provided multiple tabs for the various e-mail accounts on the car display. Unfortunately, messaging was just about the ONLY area where my Blackberry excelled, and I abandoned it for Android. :(

You and me both. My BB Bold 9700 was a sweet device. Web browsing, however, was all but useless.

Hello SAronian, for updating the Entune App in the vehicle, can you give me a refresher? I have the same model as you, a 2012 Advance. I have an iPhone and it's updated to the latest. But it's been years since I messed with updating the car's Entune App. Thanks!

Chazz8 describe the process perfectly and it is as easy at is sounds.

BTW - The Bing search in the Entune App has been responding with a "This service is currently unavailable." message the past couple weeks. I emailed Toyota and the next day they said the problem was fixed. It would for a day and then on Saturday went out again. Sent them another email and haven't heard back yet.

Thank you Chazz8 for the instructions. The USB connection between my iPhone 5s and the car didn't work. So I unplugged it and switched to Bluetooth. Worked with that, although there were about 3 to 4 load failures. Luckily, each time I restarted, it picked up from the percent update it left off at.

In theory it's nice to have the latest Entune update. However, I've used the Apps only once, maybe. I have a limited data plan, and listening to music through Pandora, for example, would bankrupt me!

    Thanks again!

    mmmmm...,.

Was excited to see an iPhone app for the pip. Immediately downloaded, entered VIN and...well...can't say I had huge expectations for this but so underwhelmed. Bing, OpenTable, Pandora, iHeart, Slacker, MovieTicket (& saved locations). Is that it? Please tell me here is a way to get others apps through Entune (even if it requires jailbreak or hacks.)
Sort of like all the built in Siri/XM garbage that sits there for years getting no use but no way to delete.

Was hoping to connect to any gps navigation app, as the built-in one takes too long to do anything; use the built-in nav only for extremes situations if in a real jam.

Waze, Google/Apple nav, phone/sms/txt using Siri, spotify - would actually just want the screen to pick up the iPhone screen and kick all the built in items to the curb. Access to basic engine UI would be expected, but seems to require a subscription. Love the idea of accessing the temperature controls remotely - but part of the never-will-be-purchased subscription.

So it is possible there is a firmware/software update available which I'll need to explore - but can anyone tell me if there is any hope for more functionality from Entune? Or is this about as good as it gets?

Makes me wonder who the product owners were for such delivery....

    digital implant....

This Toyota corporate news release from 2011 made it sound like Entune would grow and expand with many updates. Now I'm not expecting anything new for the Gen3 models, with Toyotal most likely taking a new direction when the Gen4 is released.

We don't even get Entune at all in Canada, although I'm told on this forum that's probably a good thing.

By the looks of Entune at present, I'd rather not have it at all myself. Kills me when car companies insist on going solo with their technology, partnering with small companies and have little knowledge or even educated guesses (backed with data) on how to proceed. Looks like a lot of investment event into this Entune solution ... and is just a fancy bridge to nowhere.

The flip side is when the technology ignores the three major platforms (Andriod, iOS, Windows) in favor of one of them and impaired functionality (or none) with the other two. Bluetooth ain't rocket science.
